Megumi Fushiguro's power in Jujutsu Kaisen explained (2023) | Update
Megumi Fushiguro is one of the main characters of , and the first one that the protagonist, , meets. He plays a central role in the plot which thickens over time.
As one of the main characters, he is expected to have well-defined and intriguing powers, and his powers certainly do not disappoint. Therefore, in this article, we will discuss the powers and abilities of Megumi Fushiguro in Jujutsu Kaisen.
The manga series already revealed Megumi's powers quite early on. He showed his potential as an exceptionally powerful Jujutsu wizard, recognized by both and even the , .
Gojo even commented that Megumi had the potential to surpass him, although he had a long way to go before he could do so.
Megumi is a tall boy with black hair and green eyes. He is 15 years old and a student at Tokyo Metropolitan Jujutsu High School. It uses the name of the , one of the three main families of wizards.
Megumi's father, , left the famous clan and gained notoriety due to his heightened senses and supernatural physical prowess. He later became known as the Wizard Slayer.
Conversely, Megumi inherited the famous family technique Zenin. Megumi is currently a level 2 witch and also the deuteragonist of Jujutsu Kaisen.

Hand-to-hand combat
While many Jujutsu Sorcerers focus primarily on channeling their cursed energy into their techniques during a battle in Jujutsu Kaisen, Megumi makes sure to be as physically active as necessary. He is skilled in hand-to-hand combat, often training with his cousin, although his skills in this area are far superior to his own.
Megumi also trains with several weapons and cursed items and puts her skills to use in battles. Additionally, he is also very perceptive and quickly recognizes his opponents' weak points.
During their fight against the Hanami Special Curse, he is the only person to quickly grasp her weak point, and his information is invaluable to Yuji and Aoi Todo, who eventually fight her.
He also fought on par with Noritoshi Kamo and showed his impressive combat abilities in his domain expansion. Megumi's tendency to actively participate in physical combat, coupled with his strong cursed technique, makes him such a great Jujutsu wizard with a lot of potential.
Megumi Fushiguro 's Cursed Energy
Megumi weaves specific hand signs and manifests Shikigami from the shadows that serve him. As the name of the technique suggests, the user can control and communicate with up to ten Shikigami, each with their unique qualities.
He summons divine dogs that can track and devour curses, an owl-like Shikigami that can fly, snakes, toads, elephants, and rabbits. However, Sukuna has previously mentioned that his willingness to fight in close combat sets him apart from other Shikigami users.
Recyclable Cursed Energy
One of the interesting qualities of the Ten Shadows Technique is that even if one Shikigami is destroyed and can no longer be summoned, its cursed energy is inherited by the other Shikigami.
In other words, the cursed energy of a decimated Shikigami is recycled. After Hanami (a special quality curse) crushed Megumi's white divine dog, her cursed energy was absorbed by Megumi's black divine dog, forming Kon, a totally enhanced combination of the two.
It is powerful enough to fight special quality cursed spirits.
Megumi Fushiguro's Cursed Technique: Ten Shadow Technique
As the Zenin Clan was one of the strongest and most famous clans in the series, they possessed an incredibly powerful technique known as the Ten Shadows Technique. Megumi inherited it and it's one of her favorite moves.
This technique helps Megumi create Shikigami, which aids her in battles against opponents and curses. He can deal with up to 10 Shikigami at a time, but this also uses up a lot of his cursed energy.
1) Divine Dogs
This is Megumi's ability through which he can summon two black and white colored hounds. They are ferocious beasts that instinctively run after curses and devour them.
This was one of Megumi's most commonly used techniques in the series.
Divine Dogs is not only Megumi's most used but also her first Shikigami. In 's flashback, it is shown that the Divine Dogs have been with Megumi since her childhood.
Dogs have their own personalities, as seen when the White Divine Dog went to see Hana without Megumi's knowledge but returned when he asked. They are fiercely loyal to their master.
Everything was going well until Finger Bearer destroyed the White God Dog. And therein lies the true brilliance of the Ten Shadows Technique.
Because instead of the Shikigami disappearing, the traits of the White Divine Dog were passed down to the Black Divine Dog, creating a more fierce Divine Dog: Totality.
2) Divine Dog: Totality
If the Divine Dogs duo was fierce, Divine Dog: Totality is an absolute monster. He is much larger than them and significantly more powerful. Indeed, it was formed after the fusion of the powers of the White Divine Dog and the Black Divine Dog.
As a result, he can go further and even face special quality cursed spirits that are difficult to defeat. We also saw in the fight against Kirara how he managed to pin him after Megumi figured out his cursed technique.
3) New
It is a type of flying Shikigami that looks a lot like an owl. Naked is a mythological bird in Japanese culture and its appearance is fittingly grandiose. The bird is enormous with dark orange feathers and a white face without a beak.
This Shikigami is very versatile and can be used in different ways. This is a great tool for exploring an area to be aware of hidden enemies.
Naked can also be used for transportation, as Megumi flies on her back. It can also be used for offensive purposes by ordering Nue to launch a dive attack directly from the sky.
Aside from that, Nue can also launch a high-intensity electric attack which Sukuna uses after taking control of Megumi's body.
An air attack is always a bonus since the enemy will have difficulty concentrating against two targets. In addition to this, Nue can also use lightning-based attacks.
4) Great Serpent
If Nue can attack from the sky, the Great Serpent can attack from the ground. Similar to Nue, he can also ambush the enemy suddenly and give Megumi a huge advantage in Jujutsu Kaisen.
Using this shadow technique, a giant white snake with black markings will crawl up from the ground and can completely bind the target, preventing them from escaping.
5) Toad
Toad allows Megumi to summon many Toads. In turn, they can pin their enemies using their tongues and hold them in one place.
The toads are huge and green, with the Shikigami mark embedded on their bellies. Megumi once used them to save Nobara Kugisaki.
6) The Well's Unknown Abyss
The Well's Unknown Abyss is a combined shadow technique through which Megumi can combine the powers of the Toads with those of the Nue. As a result, toads gain the ability to fly with their wings and launch aerial attacks in groups.
The Well's Unknown Abyss is also one of Megumi's two Shikigami in Jujutsu Kaisen where he summons a horde instead of one or two Shikigami (in the case of divine dogs), the other being Rabbit Escape.
7) Max Elephant
Using this technique, Megumi can summon a huge pink elephant which also uses up much of her cursed energy. This prevents Megumi from summoning other Shikigami, and for the moment he is limited to using his base form.
The elephant can charge at enemies with brute force while using its trunk to release lots of water. During his fight against Yorozu, Sukuna summons Max Elephant from the sky and uses his weight to crush his enemy.
8) Rabbit Escape
This is a distraction shadow technique that summons a large number of rabbits. The rabbits are small and white and look like regular rabbits.
They are not intended for offensive purposes, as they can be easily crushed. Rabbit Escape is designed as an escape route for Megumi since the enemy will be caught in the chaos of so many rabbits.
9) Round Deer
This Shikigami is one of two Shikigami not used by Megumi in the series. Sukuna used it during his fight against Yorozu. Round Deer appears as a huge stag with two pairs of eyes with swirling pupils and a pair of large antlers. The deer is well muscled and dominates Megumi's waist.
Round Deer uses Reverse Curse Energy to heal the user. With this technique, he can even neutralize other cursed techniques like Yorozu's liquid metal. His potential for versatility is high and it's easy to imagine him achieving even greater feats.
Although Round Deer can heal the user with its reverse curse energy, it is unknown if the healing can be performed on anyone other than Megumi or on Megumi's body in this case.
10) Ox Piercing
Piercing Ox is another Shikigami that Sukuna used in his fight against Yorozu after taking over Megumi's body. This Shikigami is a large black ox with thick horns and a powerful body. There is a mark on his forehead as well as protrusions on either side of his mouth.
He possesses high offensive power thanks to his raw strength and aggressive charge. Piercing Ox can only move in straight lines. However, the longer the Shikigami takes to charge, the more powerful its attack becomes.
Although his attack is relatively easy to dodge since his movement can be predicted, if hit he can break even the toughest armor with his power. An example of this is when Piercing Ox breaks Yorozu's insect armor.
9) Eight-Handled Sword Divergent Sila Divine General Mahoraga
As a beginner, the user of the Ten Shadows Technique receives two Divine Dogs. Then, they help the user gain additional Shikigami by exorcising them.
The standard is that a wizard cannot use a Shikigami until he is exorcised; however, Megumi can exploit this by summoning a Shikigami that none of the previous users have ever exorcised.
He summons a Shikigami called Eight-Handled Sword Divergent Sila Divine General, a dangerous tactic powerful enough to challenge the Gojo Family. It is the most powerful Shikigami, and so far no user of this technique has successfully exorcised it.
Megumi considered this Shikigami her ace up her sleeve, even though it is impossible to tame. However, after Haruto Shigemo dangerously injured him, he summoned Mahoraga as a last resort and was immediately attacked and nearly killed by the indomitable Shikigami.
Mahoraga appears as a humanoid being with four protrusions on his face and an eight-handed wheel above his head. The Shikigami also wields a sword attached to his right hand. To summon Mahoraga, the user must chant: "With this treasure, I summon..."
Mahoraga is not only huge and extremely strong, but he also has some considerable advantages. The Shikigami is able to adapt to any situation once the wheel above its head turns.
This is seen when he adapts to Sukuna's Dismantling after being hit just once. It also has a very rapid regeneration ability, making it more difficult to exorcise. Sukuna could only achieve this with his: Malevolent Sanctuary and a special flaming arrow.
Domain Expansion: Chimera Shadow Garden
Megumi can also combine her Shikigami with her domain extension, allowing her to expand her cursed energy into an unavoidable dimension.
Her technique, called Chimera Shadow Garden, is flooded with a large amount of flowing shadows. He can summon multiple Shikigami and even create a duplicate of himself within his domain. However, currently its domain expansion is incomplete.
Megumi literally has one of the best abilities in the manga. He can even use ten of his shadows at once. You can imagine him using all his shadows together, he can use them as bait or trap you. With such abilities, he is obviously one of the most talented Jujutsu wizards.
He's currently in a precarious position with Sukuna taking over his body and killing his beloved sister, but we hope he makes a big comeback. As the deuteragonist of Jujutsu Kaisen , he has an important role to play in the story.
