Roronoa Zoro: Powers and Abilities
The Straw Hat Pirates' swordsman and unofficial first companion is the former pirate hunter, Roronoa Zoro. Vowing to become the world's greatest swordsman to keep his promise to his late friend, Zoro is the first to join the crew of .
Powers and Abilities
Zoro is the second strongest member of the Straw Hat Pirates, surpassed only by his captain. He was also one of the eleven Supernovas, one of only two members of the group not to be captain.
Zoro's ability relies entirely on his swordsmanship. He is one of the best swordsmen in the series and is guaranteed to win the title of best in the end. His signature is his use of three swords; Currently, the three swords he possesses are Wado Ichimonji, Sandai Kitetsu, and Enma.
With his three swords, Zoro performs a wide range of sword techniques, including the Three-Sword Style, Two-Sword Style, One-Sword Style, Nine-Sword Style, and Foxfire Style.
Zoro is also one of the few characters who can use all three types of Haki: Haoshoku, Busoshoku, and Kenbunshoku.
Yoriichi Tsugikuni: Powers and Abilities
The first demon slayer to use a breathing style was Yoriichi Tsugikuni. He fought and won, traumatizing the demon to the point that he will fear the demon slayer for centuries. His breathing style, Sun Breathing, is the ancestor of all breathing styles.
Powers and Abilities
Yoriichi is the most powerful demon slayer and the second strongest character, second only to his demon form, in the story. His Solar Breathing is also the strongest breathing style and is capable of hurting demons the most. In addition to his breathing style, Yoriichi was also born with superhuman physical prowess, surpassing ordinary humans and even demons in strength, speed, and agility.
Yoriichi was a master swordsman, his swordsmanship was so high that the robotic mannequin created in his impression had to have six arms just to replicate his movements.
Yoriichi created the original breathing style with his naturally superior swordsmanship and named it Sun Breathing. All other breathing styles were subsequently derived from it. In addition to being the original breathing style, Sun Breathing is also the most difficult to master and the most effective against demons. The Sun Breathing user imagines using the solar flame through their swordsmanship.
Solar breathing has thirteen forms, namely dance, clear blue sky, raging sun, summer sun of burning bones, setting sun transformation, solar heat mist, beneficial radiance, surge of Sunflower, Dragon Dance Halo Dance, Fire Wheel, Fake Rainbow, Flame Dance, and an unnamed thirteenth form.
Unlike other Hashira who gain their Demon Slayer Mark when they reach their peak, Yoriichi has always had his Demon Slayer Mark, meaning he has always been at his best. Since his birth, he could also see the transparent world.
Yoriichi had a state called Altruistic State in which he felt no emotions and thus could completely mask his presence.
Zoro vs. Yoriichi: Who Would Win?
The two master swordsmen, Zoro versus Yoriichi, would be an interesting battle to see. However, based on their individual powers and abilities, we can confidently say that Zoro would win the Zoro vs. Yoriichi fight. Yoriichi's swordsmanship can prove deadly to demons, but Zoro can easily counter them.
In addition to this, Zoro has access to all three types of Haki. Although his Haoshoku won't make a strong-willed person like Yoriichi faint, he can still strengthen his sword attacks with Haoshoku and Busoshoku Haki and observe Yoriichi's complicated movements with his Kenbunshoku.
None of Yoriichi's thirteen forms can defeat Zoro. In the following, we discuss every aspect of the Zoro vs. Yoriichi fight and how they would perform in each round:
Strength based
Yoriichi was born with superhuman strength but he can't compare to Zoro. The pirate regularly engages in vigorous weightlifting and has performed numerous feats that require strength far beyond that of an ordinary human. Zoro therefore wins this round by force.
Based on speed
When it comes to speed, Zoro has no feats to tell. He is faster than some of his teammates but not the fastest of the crew. His fighting style also does not rely on speed, although Zoro is very agile.
Yoriichi, on the other hand, is extremely fast, thanks to his natural superhuman physical prowess. Although it was never explicitly stated, its speed could even be compared to that of the Sound Hashira and the Wind Hashira. Even at 80 years old, Yoriichi could defeat Kokushibo, the second strongest demon, to such an extent that the demon couldn't even raise his arm to defend himself before his neck was cut by Yoriichi.
So we have to give this speed to the demon slayer.
Based on sustainability
When you're as singularly powerful as Yoriichi is in Demon Slayer, you don't have the ability to check if you're durable. On every occasion, Yoriichi dominated the fight and remained invincible throughout his life. It may have been durable, but there is no proof of that.
Zoro, however, is a beast when it comes to durability. Even in the One Piece universe where major characters are expected to demonstrate superhuman feats, Zoro remains at the top of the list as one of the series' most enduring characters. He has survived life-threatening injuries numerous times.
And who can forget the "nothing happened" moment when Zoro continued to get up even after taking care of all of Luffy's pains and injuries on top of his own? So there is no winning question in terms of sustainability.
Based on capabilities
Our two contenders are two very skilled swordsmen with plenty to show for it in their arsenal. Yoriichi's Sun Breathing is the most powerful in his universe but truth be told, it wouldn't go far in the One Piece universe. He may be the strongest Demon Slayer, but he will never be able to match the powerful swordsman Zoro has become.
Zoro has an advantage over him in almost everything. So, based on his abilities, Zoro wins once again.
Conclusion
So as we see, Zoro dominates the Zoro vs. Yoriichi fight with his swordsmanship and a wider range of abilities. We also have to remember that the power scaling in One Piece and Demon Slayer is completely different, so Zoro is expected to win in this battle.
