Among the many features of the story, one of the most notable is the cast of relatable characters. While the story primarily focuses on high school volleyball, the final chapter arc begins with a time jump, giving us a glimpse of our favorite characters as adults. Some of them have relatively normal careers while others have pursued their passion and become professional volleyball players. Here are the top 15 Haikyuu characters who will turn professional in the future.

The final arc of Haikyuu!! Takes place two years after Hinata and Kageyama graduated from high school and all the teenagers are now adults. A considerable number of characters have chosen to become professional volleyball players, some even pursuing it alongside a normal job. However, for this specific list, we are only considering characters whose careers are focused entirely on professional volleyball.

These characters are the most accomplished athletes of the group and most of them are based in Japan, playing for various V. League Division 1 teams. Some of them have chosen to go abroad to practice volleyball.

Now that we have an idea of the requirements to make this list, we'll start with the top 15 Haikyuu characters who will turn professional in the future, but not before issuing a spoiler alert.

Top 15 Haikyuu!! Characters who will become professionals in the future

1) Shoyo Hinata

Haikyuu's protagonist, Shoyo Hinata, has the most character development throughout the story. Although he is small and not technically competent, Hinata pursues his passion with an unwavering determination that makes him a great character.

After graduating from high school, Hinata goes to Brazil to train beach volleyball and become a player who would not need Kageyama to play volleyball. Of course, he succeeds and returns to Japan as a member of the MSBY Black Jackals.

Never one to stop on her path to the top, Hinata later joined Brazil's Asas São Paulo and became a member of the Japan national team at the 2021 Olympics.

2) Tobio Kageyama

If there's anyone who should turn pro in the future early on, it's Karasuno's starting setter, Tobio Kageyama. From the start, it's clear that Kageyama is a genius who is already approaching pro level and will only get better.

After participating in the national championships, Kageyama shows the whole country what a brilliant player he is. Even before graduating, he was spotted by many teams, among which he chose the highly regarded Schweiden Adlers. When he was just 19 years old, he competed in his first Olympic Games as a member of the Japanese national team at the Rio Olympics.

Kageyama then went international and joined Ali Roma, a team based in Italy. He is competing in the Olympics for the second time in the 2021 Olympics.

3) Toru Oikawa

One of the most brilliantly written characters in Haikyuu!! is Toru Oikawa, Aoba Johsai's setter and Kageyama's greatest rival. Oikawa is a brilliant passer who excels in technique and communication with his hitters, but he lacks Kageyama's natural genius for which he envies the younger man.

After graduating from high school, Oikawa moved to Argentina where he became a professional volleyball player and joined Club Athletico San Juan, a team in the Argentine Volleyball Federation. He is also participating in the 2021 Olympics as a member of the Argentine national team after obtaining Argentine citizenship.

4) Wakatoshi Ushijima

Of all the high school volleyball players featured in Haikyuu!!, only Wakatoshi Ushijima made the Japan national team, competing in the U-19 championship. So it's no surprise that he's part of the Haikyuu!! characters who will become professionals in the future.

After graduating from high school, Ushijima joined Schweiden Adlers, a professional team in the V. League Division 1, where he eventually became teammates of Kageyama. He then moved abroad to join the Polish professional volleyball team Orzel Warszawa and also participated in the 2021 Olympics as a member of the Japanese national volleyball team.

5) Korai Hoshiumi

For the longest time, Hinata shined as an exceptional case of a small player excelling in volleyball where more size means more advantages. But when Korai Hoshiumi enters the scene, it becomes clear that Hinata is not the most special case and that there is someone with the same opponent but who is more skilled than him.

Nicknamed the Little Giant, Hoshiumi turned professional after high school and joined the Schweiden Adlers as an outside hitter. He also became a member of the Japanese national volleyball team and participated in the 2021 Olympics.

6) Atsumu Miya

Another extraordinary passer who gained attention early in his career is Inarizaki's Atsumu Miya. In high school, he was famous for his precise sets and intense serves as well as his partnership with his twin brother Osamu.

Thanks to his performances throughout high school, Atsumu is easily spotted after graduation. He joins MSBY Black Jackals, a professional volleyball team in Japan's V. League Division 1, and becomes teammates with Bokuto and Sakusa. Atsumu later joins the Japanese national volleyball team for the 2021 Olympics.

7) Koutaro Bokuto

Haikyuu!! has no shortage of interesting and eccentric characters but even among them, Koutaro Bokuto deserves special mention. Star of Fukurodani, Bokuto is an unusual player, prone to rapid mood swings and exaggerated reactions. He is counting on his trusted passer Akaashi and his team to get him out of his bad situation.

But there is no doubt that Bokuto is an extraordinary player with amazing skills. It's no surprise that he was scouted after high school, which led him to join MSBY Black Jackals. He later becomes one of the members of Japan's national volleyball team at the 2021 Olympics.

8) Kiyoomi Sakusa

Kiyoomi Sakusa, one of the top three aces in the country, is bound to become a professional player in the future. He is the star ace of Itachiyama Academy and is among those like Ushijima and Kiryu. The guy is known for the extraordinary movement ability of his wrists, giving him the ability to perform intense spikes.

In the future, Sakusa joins MSBY Black Jackals after college. He also joins some of his Black Jackals teammates as a member of the Japanese national volleyball team for the 2021 Olympics.

9) Morisuke Yaku

When it comes to having former professional volleyball players, Nekoma is not behind anyone. Nekoma libero Morisuke Yaku is making a name for himself with his performance at the national championships. He is a worthy rival to Karasuno's super libero, Nishinoya.

Yaku leaves the country perhaps after graduating from high school and goes to Russia where he joins Tigr Yekaterinburg, a professional team in the Russian Volleyball Super League, as a libero. He also joined the Japan national volleyball team for the 2011 Olympics.

10) Tsutomu Goshiki

Shiratorizawa's Tsutomu Goshiki respects and envies his ace star Ushijima in equal measure. It is therefore not surprising that he would follow in the footsteps of his respected elder and turn professional in the future.

In 2018, Goshiki is a senior in college while also pursuing a professional volleyball career. He is a member of Azuma Pharmacy Green Rocket, a V. League Division 1 team, and plays as an outside hitter.

11) Taketora Yamamoto

Just like their libero, Nekoma ace Taketora Yamamoto will also become a professional volleyball player in the future. He is a talented and aggressive player who also serves as a rival to Karasuno's winger Tanaka.

In 2021, when all the Nekoma Men's Volleyball Club alumni reunite, Yamamoto is a member of the professional volleyball team, VC Kanagawa, and acts as an outside hitter. Thus, Yamamoto is one of the few Haikyuu characters to turn professional in the future.

12) Aran Ojiro

Inarizaki's Aran Ojiro is one of the top five aces in the country along with Ushijima, Sakusa, Kiryu and Bokuto. Being such a great player, he will also turn professional in the future. Sometime before 2018, Aran joined the Tachibana Red Falcons as an outside hitter and later became a member of the national volleyball team to represent Japan in the 2021 Olympics. This made Aran not only one of the characters Haikyuu who will come from in the future, but who will also be part of the national team.

13) Rintaro Suna

Inarizaki isn't considered a powerhouse school for nothing, as it produces the highest number of professional volleyball players out of all the other high schools featured in Haikyuu!! who participate in the V. League Division 1.

In the future, Inarizaki's Rintaro Suna also turned professional and joined EJP Raijin, becoming teammates with Itachiyama's Komori and Fukurodani's Washio. He is also joining the Japan national volleyball team for the 2021 Olympics.

14) Motoya Komori

While most liberos featured in Haikyuu!! are smaller than the other team members, Itachiyama's Motoya Komori attracts attention with his large size and incredible digging abilities. It is later revealed that he is Sakusa's cousin.

Like his cousin, Komori also turned pro and joined EJP Raijin. He is also one of the liberos on Japan's national team for the 2021 Olympics. Komori is one of the few Haikyuu characters to turn professional as a libero.

15) Wakatsu Kiryu

Wakatsu Kiryu of Mujinazaka High School is one of the top three aces in the country and is considered the equal of Ushijima and Sakusa. He is also a deeply anxious person, known to provoke any type of throwing, no matter how serious.

In the future, Kiryu is considered an outside hitter of the Azuma Pharmacy Green Rockets and a teammate of Shiratorizawa's Goshiki.
