The Sacred Vollachia Empire - Re:Zero
The Sacred Empire of Vollachia is the largest nation on the continent and is located south of the Dragon Kingdom of Lugnica . The emblem of the Vollachia Empire is a wolf with three swords impaled in its head. The Vollachia Empire has a mild climate year-round, making agriculture very sustainable. The nation has many skilled magic artisans, but does not have many spirit magic users compared to Lugnica. Vollachia is also home to many demihumans, as a majority of Vollachians consider combat prowess to be the most important aspect of a person, rather than their race or monetary status.
Military
The Vollacha Empire is a meritocracy, meaning it values an individual's abilities above all else. This has allowed Vollachia to have an incredibly powerful military, making it the most powerful military nation on the continent.
The Vollachian military is divided into five ranks (from weakest to strongest): Private, Private First Class, General Third Class, General Second Class, and General First Class. The nine strongest members of the military are called the "Nine Divine Generals," and they are all influential figures within the nation due to their immense power. The only currently known members of the Nine Divine Generals are: Arrachia the Spirit Devourer, Balroy Temeglyph (deceased), Moguro Hagane, Goz Ralfon, Groovy Gamlet, Chisha Gold, and Cecilus Segmunt, the strongest of the nine.
Traditions
Emperor Selection Ceremony - The Emperor Selection Ceremony is the process by which the next emperor of Vollachia is determined. It begins with the current ruling emperor having children with various women throughout Vollachia. The ceremony officially begins when the current ruling emperor is either ejected from the throne or burned alive by the Yang Vollachia sword. After this point, the children are gathered in the capital to see if they are worthy of wielding the Yang Vollachia sword without being killed by it. These children must then defeat all other potential successors to the throne.
Locations
Rupgana - Rupgana is the capital of the Vollachia Empire. The city is protected by a large outer wall. Unlike many of Lugnica's larger cities, there are no obvious disparities in wealth in Rupgana. Within the city lies the Crystal Palace, home to the Emperor of Vollachia. The Crystal Palace is built from magical stones, meaning the interior of the palace has an overabundance of mana, making it easy for mages to defend and attack from within.
Ginunhive Gladiator Island - A group of islands where many gladiatorial battles take place, with gladiators fighting either Demonic Beasts or other gladiators. It was here that Aldebaran learned to fight, and it was also where he lost his left arm and received his iconic helmet.
Garkla - Garkla was a military city located on the borders of the Vollachia Empire. It was destroyed by Regulated Corneas , the Archbishop of the Sin of Greed, fifteen years before the main events of the series.
Notable figures
Vincent Vollachia - Vincent Vollachia is the 78th and current emperor of Vollachia. Unlike previous emperors of Vollachia, Vincent does not want to start a war with the Kingdom of Lugnica. Vincent is capable of wielding the Yang Vollachia sword, as required by the nation's emperors.
Priscilla Barielle - Priscilla Barielle is one of the members of the Royal Selection of Lugnica. She was originally known as Prisca Benedict, and is actually one of the daughters of Drizen Vollachia, the former Emperor of Vollachia. She managed to survive the Emperor Selection Ceremony by faking her death to Vincent Vollachia. Like the other participants in the Emperor Selection Ceremony, Priscilla is able to safely wield the sword Yang Vollachia, and can summon it at will.
Aldebaran - Aldebaran, also known as Al, is Priscilla's knight. Subaru Natsuki Aldebaran was summoned to the world of Re:Zero from Japan. Aldebaran spent 10 years in the gladiatorial arenas of Ginunhive, where he became the powerful warrior he is known as today.
