Since the studio's founding, the 1986 film Castle in the Sky, written by Hayao Miyazaki and produced by Isao Takahata, has garnered a global fan base, as have their family films "Ponyo" and "My Neighbor Totoro." Hayao Miyazaki is often credited as the main force behind most of the studio's major hits.
