Asada Shino , otherwise known as Sinon online, is a main character in the Sword Art Online series, having been introduced in the show's second season. Sinon began playing VRMMO games beginning with Gun Gale Online, where she became renowned as the game's most skilled marksman.
In the real world, Sinon has black eyes and wears half-rimmed glasses. Her hair is short and dark, with the hair next to her bangs tied with a pair of ribbons.
In Gun Gale Online, Sinon has light blue hair, much like her human style, replacing the ribbons with hair clips. Her battle attire exposes a large portion of her skin to all onlookers. Exposing most of her waist and thighs, her underarmor covers her chest and back, with a short green and white long-sleeved jacket. Her pants are styled to match her jacket, while exposing her inner thigh, where each is covered by a single strap. Sinon also wears a white scarf with a single black line down the middle, each end going down her back; she uses it as a mask for her mouth on certain occasions.
By transferring her character to ALfheim Online, Sinon assumes the role of a Cait Sith fey with blue hair, cat ears, and a cat tail. Utilizing her existing long-range weapon skills, she fights with archery abilities that allow her to hit targets far beyond the bow's typical combat range.
History
Born in 2009, Sinon was only two years old when her parents were involved in a tragic car accident, resulting in the death of her father. Moving from Tokyo to live with her grandparents, Sinon was left to care for her mother as they grew older and closer. At the age of 11, Sinon and her mother became the target of an armed robbery at the local post office they frequented. The gunman, armed with a Type 54 pistol, used Sinon's mother as a hostage, threatening to kill her if his demands were not met. In an attempt to save her mother, Sinon attacked the gunman by biting him on the arm, dropping her weapon in the process. Sinon took his pistol and shot him in the chest. Despite the wound, the gunman attempted to return fire, before Sinon quickly fired two more shots in retaliation, resulting in her immediate death from a gunshot to the head. This event left Sinon with lasting trauma, as any object resembling a firearm reminded her of the incident. When Sinon was 15, she met Shinkawa Kyouji at her local library. Shinkawa was an established player of Gun Gale Online, and the two thought that firsthand experience in the game might help Sinon overcome her fear of firearms.
