Nestled close to his body is Kyoya's infamous black notebook filled with future Host Club plans, guest information, and blackmailing other club members. Just as Kyoya would prefer, his uniform is neat and tidy, as is his hair, and his glasses remain firmly on his face. The figure's chibi style allows fans to experience the kindness Kyoya shows toward paying customers. Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, this expression alone saves fans from the sleep-deprived demon Kyoya presents in his Reluctant Day Off.

Ouran High School Host Club Series 1 - Tamaki Figure (Pop! Animation)

The rounded chibi style of the Pop! figure captures the innocent charm of Host Club king Tamaki Suoh. An outstretched red rose recalls his suave and flirtatious demeanor. However, the round, cartoonish eyes remind fans of Tamaki's powerful puppy-dog expression that gets the rest of the Host Club into many scandalous situations. With both the rose and the hand on his chest, Tamaki appears to be in the middle of a bold declaration of love. Whether he's being warmly welcomed by a Host Club guest or dejected by Haruhi, this is Tamaki's most natural pose.

Ouran High School Host Club Series 1 - Haruhi Figure (Pop! Animation)

This figure shows the series' protagonist, Haruhi Fujioka, in her everyday school uniform and everyday disguise as a male student. As she says in the series, Haruhi isn't afraid to be perceived as a boy or a girl—it's what's inside that counts. And this Pop! Animation figure captures her iconic appearance as a male host. As the male members of the Host Club point out, it's hard to imagine Haruhi's unkempt appearance in the anime's opening scenes after seeing her transformation. The Haruhi chibi figure shows her with a relaxed posture and one hand on her hip, completely at ease as a natural host. Unfortunately for Lobelia Academy, Haruhi belongs in the Ouran Academy uniform, male or female.

Given the size and adorableness of these figures, it's easy to think of them as inseparable, much like the trio in the series. As mentioned earlier, each figure captures the personalities of the individual characters. But together, Tamaki's dramatic and flashy side, Kyoya's cool demeanor, and Haruhi's quiet reticence complement each other. Plus, having the entire set available together makes it easier to imagine the antics of the Host Club. Eventually, the rest of the gang may enter production. In that case, bringing together the Host Club King, the analytical Shadow King, and the natural star is the perfect way to kick off a larger collection.

History of the Ouran High School Host Club Series

Haruhi Fujioka begins high school as a scholarship student at the elite Ouran Academy for the children of the ultra-rich. While looking for a quiet place to study, Haruhi stumbles upon a group of boys who call themselves the school's Host Club. After an accident with an expensive vase, Haruhi finds herself indebted to the Host Club and begins working as a maid. Eventually, the club members notice Haruhi's natural charm, looks, and skill with female customers. Haruhi is thus promoted from maid to host—with one small catch: she's secretly a girl. Can the Host Club keep Haruhi's secret so she can stay in the club? And perhaps more challenging: can they do it without falling in love with her?

Development of the Ouran High School Host Club Series

Written and illustrated by Bisco Hatori, Ouran High School Host Club ran in LaLa Magazine from 2002 to 2010. The serialized chapters were compiled into 18 volumes, published overseas by Viz Media, Madman Entertainment, and Chuang Yi. In 2006, Ouran received a 26-episode anime series produced by Studio Bones, which aired on Nippon TV. The anime remains highly regarded by fans despite ending before the manga's final story arcs, thanks in part to the performances of voice actors Mamoru Miyano and Maaya Sakamoto. Following the manga's conclusion, a live-action television drama and a film aired in Japan in 2011 and 2012, respectively. As of 2020, there is still no news of a reboot or continuation of the anime series, though fans remain optimistic given the success of another popular shojo reboot, Fruits Basket.
