One Piece: 10 Greatest Doflamingo Quotes, Ranked
One Piece: 10 Greatest Doflamingo Quotes, Ranked

Donquixote Doflamingo from One Piece is a descendant of the Donquixote family, but without the status of a global aristocrat. He made a name for himself as the captain of the pirate gang named after his family and eventually became a member of the Seven Warlords of the Sea. At the same time, he became the head of an underworld brokerage organization whose activities included trading in slaves, weapons of mass destruction, and artificial devil fruits. With his gang, he conquered the country of Dressrosa, located in the New World, and became its king. After his defeat by Luffy two years after the Battle of Marineford, Doflamingo was taken to Impel Down. In this regard, Doflamingo is one of the series' most powerful villains and one of its most hated characters. And he certainly deserves his own article.
This list will include a total of 10 of the best Donquixote Doflamingo quotes you should know from the anime and manga One Piece. The quotes are taken from various contexts and situations, and we decided to group them according to the movie they are from.
10. “It’s finally beginning. Hurry!! Hurry and get ready!!! The time has come when only true pirates will survive!!! Those without electricity had better run while they can! Like an unstoppable wave, a new era of unparalleled power is coming!!”
Doflamingo is a character with a very particular view of the world and its future. His ideas about the future were colored by his cynical and narcissistic worldview, so his idea of the New Age was something relatively frightening. Of course, he saw himself in this New Age; this is understandable, since he had a very high opinion of himself.
9. “Just because you’re G-d, do you really think you could stop me? This “natural enemy” nonsense is just superstition!”
This is what Doflamingo told Portgas D. Ace when they met. Now for some context: D is a mysterious initial that some characters in One Piece possess, but its true meaning hasn't been explained; the World Nobles, for some reason, fear people with this initial and consider them natural enemies. Now, while Doflamingo seemed to be acting here, it was obvious that he was simply playing hard to get and was actually afraid of Ace.
8. “Who will be happy to see you safe and sound after running around like a coward? If you can’t bring down your enemy, take a hit and bleed! Every human being… even the most pious saint, harbors a latent element of barbarism that surfaces when he sees blood!”
And while he was definitely a vile villain and a man with little to no honor, he was a noble fighter. Doflamingo didn't hesitate to fight, and this quote perfectly demonstrates his outlook on combat and survival. He hated cowards, and while much of this stemmed from his high opinion of himself, he consistently applied his opinions in real life.
7. “And so I will forgive you! As I forgave my father and my brother, with the embrace of death!
That's how twisted Doflamingo was. In every possible way. Doflamingo killed his father and he killed his brother. He killed his father when he was a child. And he did it because his father was, from his perspective, weak. He killed his brother for the same reason, and even though he "forgave" them their weaknesses in that regard, it was a morbid act and an even more morbid explanation.
6. “Curse your “bloodlines” then…!! You were born as mere trash, meant to be controlled!! You humans and I are completely different!”
And here's your classic Donquixote Doflamingo right there. The guy who was noble but was deprived of his benefits because of what his father did; it goes without saying that Doflamingo killed his father because of this. Yet, Doflamingo saw himself as better than everyone else, and this quote perfectly illustrates how, despite what happened, Doflamingo saw himself as the superior being.
5. “The prestige and stature that was rightfully mine…!! One day, my father gave it all up and our family of four was taken to this dump of a world!! Talking nonsense like we had to “live like real humans”…?! He was such a stupid, foolish father…!!”
And this quote is actually a combination of the previous two, in which he refers to his father's murder and his loss of status. Doflamingo never had a true sense of family, and while he valued loyalty, he didn't know his true feelings. He was a psychopath in the truest sense of the word, as he felt no empathy or care for others. Hell, the guy killed his father and brother in cold blood—what did you really expect?
4. “The fact that you miserable children thought, even for a moment, that you could actually beat me is the greatest shame! Understand this. I am of the noblest blood in the world… a Celestial Dragon! I possessed the rarest of powers. Nobility of birth! However! One day, my father decided that our family of four should abandon the greatest power there is and come live in this cesspool of a world! Live like a human, indeed. What a stupid, foolish man! And what do you think happened? I witnessed both heaven and hell at the age of ten. So I killed my father, the root of my suffering… and brought his head to Marie Geoise! But the Celestial Dragons in heaven would remove no one from the line of traitors. There was no escape from that hell.” And that's when I swore to destroy everything they hold dear in the world they control! The life you've led doesn't compare to the one I've lived! I have no time to waste on you miserable brats!
This monologue reveals a lot about Doflamingo, his past, and his personality. It was actually a brief account of his history and what he's done. It shows, once again, how narcissistic he was, how self-centered he was, and how he didn't care about anyone but himself. All that mattered was him, his reputation, his status, his advantages... and anyone who wasn't on the same level as him was a worm and someone who should either be enslaved or completely eliminated.
3. "From beginning to end, you've just been a thorn in my side! Why do you oppose me like this, Corazon! Why must I, for the second time, kill my own flesh and blood!?"
Corazon was actually Doflamingo's younger brother. Like his father, he viewed Corazon as weak and someone who was a nuisance and hindrance to him. And while this quote may imply that Doflamingo killed his brother with a heavy heart (and he did), this was simply a dramatic exaggeration because Doflamingo felt nothing towards his brother and killed him without any regret.
2. “I lost my mother when I was 8… and I killed my father when I was 10. Those with the title of “Officer” or higher… are my “family,” with whom I have shared my joys and sorrows. They are the only thing I have!! I will not forgive anyone who makes fun of my family!!! Understand?”
And even though young Doflamingo cared for his mother, her death changed him permanently, especially in relation to what his father had done; that's why he killed his father. But he grew attached to his family, even if it was only loyalty. He created the illusion of a family with his crew, so he protected them. In his case, it was never about love or caring, but rather pride and a sense of belonging, which is why he had a duty to protect them.
1. “Are pirates evil? Are Marines righteous!? These terms have always changed throughout history! Children who have never seen peace and children who have never seen war have different values! Those at the top determine what is wrong and what is right! This place is neutral ground! Justice will prevail, you say? But of course it will!!! Whoever wins this war… becomes justice!”
And finally, a Machiavellian quote to conclude this. It's actually quite true and reflects the fact that the victors are the ones who write history. Those who win have the right to determine what justice is, and this is a very sad but true fact, and that's why we decided to rank it as the best Doflamingo quote, as it has more depth and philosophical implications than any other memorable quote on this list.
