Luffy's 10 Strongest Attacks in One Piece (Ranked)

Monkey D. Luffy is the protagonist of Eiichiro Oda's One Piece and is currently one of its strongest characters, with the potential to become the most powerful pirate in the entire series. He is a powerful character who has evolved incredibly over the years, and in this article, we have decided to honor Luffy's evolution by presenting you with a list of his 10 most powerful attacks in the One Piece series, ranked by strength.

Second gear

Luffy performs his usual Gomu Gomu without a buffer, but with Gear 2, he gains more speed and strength and strikes the enemy with the sole of his foot. He first uses it against Blueno.

Second gear

This is an enhanced version of Gomu Gomu no Jet Bullet. After entering Gear 2, Luffy uses Busoshoku Haki to stiffen his arm. He then stretches his arm back like when he uses Gomu Gomu no Bullet but it heats up to the point of igniting and when the attack hits it creates a burst of fire that seems to pass through the opponent inflicting immense damage to the organs and body. Chronologically, he would first use it against Byrnndi World in episode 3D2Y to defeat him but in the anime, they show it first and he uses it against Hody Jones.

9. Gomu Gomu no Red Rock

Equipment: Third

Luffy activates Gear 3 and uses a more powerful variation of Gomu Gomu no Red Hawk using advanced Busoshoku Haki. The technique was powerful enough to knock Kaido down and injure him. Its name is inspired by the Ruc or Roc, a gigantic bird from Persian mythology.

7. Gomu Gomu no Jet Culverine

Black Mamba Luffy

Equipment: Fourth

A much faster version of his Boundman form's Gomu Gomu no Culverin. Luffy compresses his fist and releases it, using Python to change the direction of the blow based on his opponent's actions. His arm accelerates as it extends, and the blow is powerful enough to knock Charlotte Katakuri into a wall. This technique was first used against Katakuri.

6. Gomu Gomu in King Kong Gun

Equipment: Fourth

This is also one of Luffy's most powerful attacks. After entering Gear 4, Luffy bites his forearm and inflates his arm muscles with air until they reach a size similar to Gear 3, then Luffy performs a Gomu Gomu no Kong Gun but with more force. He first used it to defeat Doflamingo, breaking his Kumo no Sugaki and his most powerful technique, God Thread.

During his time in Wano Country, Luffy strengthened his Busoshoku Haki by learning an advanced form and performing a new version of the technique. In this version, he does not inflate his arm but projects the Haki out of his fist. This allows Luffy to strike with equal force without making physical contact. A single attack was powerful enough to shatter a large block of steel.

5. Gomu Gomu no Leo Bazooka

Equipment: Fourth

One of Luffy's most powerful attacks. After retracting his fists into his arms, Luffy viciously strikes his enemy with his outstretched hands, similar to a Gomu Gomu no Bazooka. Luffy's pose while performing this technique is reminiscent of the Kamehameha, Goku's signature technique in the Dragon Ball series. It was first used to strike Doflamingo, knocking him out for a short time.

4. Gomu Gomu no Cannonball (Tankman)

Tankman

Equipment: Fourth

During his fight against Charlotte Cracker, after consuming enormous amounts of cookies and, as a result, gaining weight and increasing his size considerably, Luffy reveals a second form of Gear 4 known as Tankman, more precisely the full-bellied version. In this form, he resembles a sumo wrestler but with exaggerated proportions: the muscles in his arms and legs develop slightly, while his Busoshoku Haki-clad torso becomes very large and round, although muscular on top.

This form also recalls Luffy's appearance when he combined his Gear Second and Gear Third before the time skip. The tanker grants Luffy's body incredible toughness thanks to Haki: unlike his Boundman form, which Cracker, despite being coated in Haki, was almost able to cut with his sword, in this form Cracker was unable to plunge the same sword into Luffy's stomach.

Additionally, this form increases the magnitude and power of the Boundman form's rubber-squeezing offensive by using Luffy's enormous stomach as a launcher, allowing him to defeat Cracker by firing at his incredibly tough cookie soldiers with the Gomu Gomu no Cannonball. Because Gear 4 causes Luffy's metabolism to increase, he is able to exit his tank form shortly after using it. This was demonstrated when Luffy was able to burn a large amount of cookies he had consumed during his battle with Cracker shortly after defeating him.

3. Gomu Gomu no Black Mamba

Equipment: Fourth

Luffy arches back and compresses both arms, then unleashes a few quick punches, moving his arms up and down to give the impression of having multiple arms. Similar to Gomu Gomu no Jet Culverin, this technique involves changing the direction of attacks, but its rapid movements make it even more difficult to dodge. This technique was first used against Charlotte Katakuri, although he managed to avoid it.

2. Gomu Gomu giant step

Gomu Gomu no Gigant

Equipment: Fifth

Luffy transforms into a giant, just as he did in Gear 3, but with his entire body. This is a modified version of his old technique, performed once Luffy activated Gear 5 and the true version of his Gomu Gomu no Mi. This allowed him to successfully fight Kaidou of the Beasts.

1. Gomu Gomu no Bajrang Gun

Gomu Gomu no Bajrang Gun

Equipment: Fifth

Luffy forms a huge fist, close in size to Onigashima's, and imbues it with Busoshoku Haki and Haoshoku Haki. He then launches a massive punch. He first used it against Kaidou, which he countered with Shoryu: Kaen Hakke, resulting in a brutal clash. "Bajrang" is an alternate name for the Hindu monkey god Hanuman.
