Fate Zero Rider
Rider (Alexander the Great) - Fate/Zero
Background
Alexander the Great (King of Conquerors; Iskandar). He is also depicted in Destiny/Grand Order. Alexander the Great was a young man, a prodigy of great beauty, prince of a small kingdom in Macedonia. Some believe his father was Zeus, which gave him great strength. He received military training and learned a lot about philosophy, political science, and legends. He began his conquest at the age of 20. His army was extremely devoted to him. His goal was to reach "Oceanus" and stand before the "endless sea," which he believed to be the end of the world. No terrain hindered his army's advance.
Appearance
A very tall and burly man with red hair, a matching beard, piercing, bright eyes, and a confident smile. He wears brown leather armor and a reddish-brown coat with off-white fur. In public, he wears an Admirable Tactics video game t-shirt because he plays the game and also enjoys having the world map printed on his chest.
Personality
Rider preferred to win people's hearts rather than kill in conquest. He offered several other servants the chance to join him, even going so far as to share the kingship with Gilgamesh, but no one accepted the offer as they all wanted to win for themselves. He cared about those he bonded with, like Waver Velvet, whom he consoled, defended, and encouraged. He believed that a king should not be a martyr or live the quality of life of a peasant, but rather live so lavishly that his followers would admire his lifestyle. Because of this, he often clashed with Saber, who was the complete opposite. He is bisexual. He marveled at the modern world and enjoyed participating in activities such as playing video games and watching television. He was particularly impressed by fighter jets and wanted a few of them. Waver's room was often cluttered with his books on war strategies and bags of potato chips.
Wish
Rider wished to reincarnate in the modern world and hoped to continue his conquest to one day conquer everything.
SKILLS
One of his noble fantasies is his chariot, the Gordius Wheel. It is said to be driven by divine bulls given to Zeus by King Gordius, which he received in exchange for his sword for crossing the Gordian Knot. It can be used to trample enemies. It is called Via and is driven by Rider, who cuts through the air with his sword. Lightning accompanies and usually surrounds him. Due to his build and riding skills, he doesn't have the best agility.
His ultimate Noble Phantasm is Ionioi Hetairoi: Army of Kings, which is his immense army summoned from a Reality Marble in a vast desert under a sunny sky. He is also able to summon his noble steed Bucephalus from within and outside of it. His use of Ionioi Hetairoi helps him, Saber, and Lancer defeat Caster by buying them time. He also tries to use it against Gilgamesh, but he manages to destroy him with his Anti-World Noble Phantasm.
His Kurpriote sword is a spatha. He also carries at least one throwing knife.
Death
Rider was killed by Gilgamesh, who deemed him worthy enough to be killed by his Noble Phantasm Ea, even though he could kill him without it. This is a significant event because Gilgamesh doesn't use his best weapons on just anyone. Before his death, he tells Waver to tell everyone that he is his disciple, and Waver calls him his king. Because of this, Gilgamesh spares Waver because he tells him that he is not his master, but only a disciple. It can be said that he had a very respectable death and faced it bravely.
Master
Waver Velvet summoned him using the mantle he once wore as a Catalyst. The Catalyst (sometimes also called an artifact) was stolen by Waver from his teacher, Lord El-Melloi, for whom it was intended. Waver was often worried and afraid during the Holy Grail War, sometimes even thinking that Rider considered him stupid or an unworthy Master, but Rider consoled him by telling him that this was not the truth. Rider appreciated that he had the courage to always be by his side during battles instead of hiding in the shadows and was impressed by his ability to find Caster's lair using simple alchemy methods rather than an overly complicated and unnecessary method. Waver Velvet's wish was to be taken seriously by the Mage's Association as a skilled mage with great potential.
Role
In Fate/Zero, he is summoned by Waver Velvet using the catalyst he stole from Lord El-Melloi after getting angry at him for ridiculing him during a lecture. Waver had written a paper on how a mage with a weak or new magical bloodline could become as great as a mage with a long family line of mages, and Lord El-Melloi ridiculed this idea in front of the entire class. He quickly befriends Waver Velvet and throughout the story plays a large role in Waver's character development. They team up with Saber and Lancer to defeat Caster. He also meets Saber and Gilgamesh to chat over a barrel of ale and ask if they would join him rather than fight. He once lifts Saber onto his motorcycle with her Chariot, which he loses. In the end, his life is taken by Gilgamesh, but Waver survives to tell his story and always remembers him as his king.
