Fate/Extra: Last Encore is an anime adaptation in the vast Fate franchise based on the RPG Fate/Extra for the PlayStation Portable. It is produced by the animation studio Shaft and features an original script by Fate series creator Kinoko Nasu. The anime premiered in Japan in January 2018 and ran for a total of 13 episodes. Drama CDs and a web radio show based on the anime have also been released.
Plot
A new form of Holy Grail War has begun. Hakuno Kishinami awakens with no memory of his past and finds himself unwittingly thrust into the Lunar Holy Grail War, in which masters and servants compete to obtain the Holy Grail and grant their every wish. With his servant Saber at his side, Hakuno must traverse seven floors to reach the lunar cell core and stop Twice's plan to bring about the extinction of humanity.
Production
Fate/Extra Last Encore The series first aired in Japan on January 28, 2018, on Tokyo MX and other channels and ran for 13 episodes, concluding on July 29, 2018. The anime was produced by Shaft with Akiyuki Simbo as director, Kinoko Nasu as series composer, Hiroki Yamamura and Masaaki Takiyama as character designers, and Satoru Kousaki in charge of the music. Series creator Kinoko Nasu wrote the anime not to be a direct adaptation of the game but rather to explore a new storyline created specifically for the anime. The anime's opening theme song is "Bright Burning Shout" by Takanori Nishikawa and the ending theme song is "Tsuki to Hanataba" by Sayuri.

Theater CD
Two drama CDs based on the anime have been released. The first is "Holy Grail War of Amari" which was included in the first volume of the Blu-ray release, and the second is "Tales Told by the Fox" which was included in the fifth volume of the Blu-ray release.
Web radio
A web radio show for the anime titled Webradio Fate/Extra Last Encore aired from June 29 to July 13, 2018. It featured Hakuno Kishinami's voice actor, Atsushi Abe, as the main character.
