Are there beach volleyball anime? (2023 List)

Sports is a very popular genre among anime fans, and there are some really good sports anime that capture the hearts of critics and fans alike.

The most common sport in sports anime is baseball, followed by football. There are even some great volleyball anime. But are there beach volleyball anime? Find out the answer.

What is beach volleyball?

is a team sport played on the sand of the beach. There are two teams, each composed of two or more players, and are separated by a net on a court.

The goal of this sport is to keep the ball in the air and prevent it from hitting the ground. If the ball touches one team's field, the opposing team scores a point.

Similar to indoor volleyball, there are different types of games in beach volleyball, such as serve, put, smash, catch, and block. However, unlike indoor volleyball, a player's role is not fixed in advance.

Players create gameplays based on current events in the game. But most professional players prefer to have a defensive or offensive role.

The only beach volleyball anime is Harukana Receiving. The plot centers on Haruka Oozura who moves to a seaside town and meets her cousin Kanata Higa.

When Haruka comes across some girls practicing beach volleyball, which soon turns into a competition when Kanata enters the picture, Haruka learns that her cousin stopped playing beach volleyball due to her short stature.

This spin-off series is a lighthearted twist from the intense incidents of the parental story. The series shows the Masters and Servants enjoying daily life after the Holy Grail War.

There is an intense beach volleyball scene in episode 7 where Shirou Emiya goes to a water park.

With Shirou and Saber on one team, and Lancer on another, this volleyball match is just the opportunity for the Servants to show off their skills.

Ufotable also put great effort into the animation, and it's breathtaking for such a small and insignificant scene.

3) Carnival fantasy

Carnival Phantasm

A special Type-Moon spinoff series, Carnival Phantasm brings all of the Type-Moon characters under one roof.

From the Saber of the Fate series to Lunar Legend Tsukihime's Arcueid Brunestud, this anime has everyone. During episode 2, the group plays beach volleyball.

Conclusion

As we've seen so far, although it seems fun and light in a few anime, a full beach volleyball anime is extremely rare.
