Character Background
Eren's story begins in the year 845 in the Shiganshina district. Disaster strikes as a Titan, the Colossal Titan , standing at 60 meters (197 feet) tall, appears and destroys the 50-meter walls that protected the city he lived in. The destroyed walls allowed a stampede of Titans to follow and devour over 10,000 people, causing chaos and destruction.
Amidst the chaos, Eren's turning point came when he witnessed the heartbreaking event of his mother being devoured by a titan. Still affected and determined to seek revenge, he joined the Survey Corps with his friends Mikasa and Armin .
Attack on Titan follows Eren Yeager as he gains a special power that gives humanity a fighting chance against the Titans: the ability to transform into a powerful Titan. In Attack on Titan, Eren Yeager uncovers the mysteries of the Titans' existence and why he has such powers.

Personality
Eren Yeager possesses an iron will that propels him through the story to defeat formidable opponents. Bravery or stupidity come into play with Eren as the protagonist, he blindly runs into danger to save those he loves, especially Mikasa and Armin . Eren one day realizes he has the power to transform into a Titan during the second attack on Titan. Written in the Attack on Titan: Inside & Outside Chapter 1 page 32 guide, "Losing control when he gets angry is his fatal flaw" as Eren is blinded by rage and cannot see his surroundings. Eren is someone who is easily controlled by his emotions, something he learns throughout the series.
However, Eren, with his strong sense of justice and protection of the weak, shines as he saves lives and defends the city from Titans.
