Echidna - Re:Zero

Echidna is the Witch of Greed who survived for a long time in her sanctuary even after Satella killed all the Witches of Sin. Echidna is a woman described as beautiful with long, snow-white hair that extends past her waist and black eyes. She wears a butterfly-wing-shaped hair clip on her left ear. She usually wears a floor-length black dress that looks quite modest and has white trim and accents. She was also once shown wearing a Japanese school uniform when she appeared in Subaru's Memories of Her Life in Japan. Echidna is a rather kind person whose interest lies in intellectual pursuits. However, she is also somewhat sociopathic and is not afraid of lies and deception as long as it serves her goals of gaining knowledge.
History
Long before the events of Satella, Echidna was an intellectual living on a floating island of her own creation. According to her, royals, near and far, sought her out for her great wisdom during her lifetime. She thought it would be easy to take over the world, but instead she devoted her efforts to protecting things. Despite all her talents, she was still unable to accomplish anything meaningful on her own, which made her realize her powerlessness. She overcame her despair and sought out others who shared her interests and desires.
At some point, she established her Sanctuary where she continued her experimentations. It was here that she met the first Roswaal, created Palet None Beatrice , and Lewes-Meyer She experienced immortality, though this particular quest was cut short due to events with Satella. It remains unknown to what extent Echidna's influence shaped the events of the story, but much of her legacy continues to influence the current events of Re:Zero, such as the Gospel Book that was in Roswaal's possession or the incredibly powerful metia that Felt Before Satella could kill the other witches, Echidna reclaimed their souls (including Satella's) which she retains to this day.
Regardless, Subaru first meets Echidna during the events of Arc 4 when he enters her graveyard without her blessing. She is fascinated by his Return by Death . She allowed him to gain information from multiple perspectives and timelines. She continuously helped him until he rejected an offer from her (on the advice of the other witches) to form a contract. This led her to rescind her blessing, although Subaru was still able to resolve crises around the Sanctuary.
Just before these events were fully resolved, Echidna absorbed the soul of Lewes Meyer's Omega clone and used it to transfer her own soul into Lewes Meyer's original body. She then wandered the Kingdom of Lugnica without the knowledge of any of the heroes.
Relationships
Satella - Satella is the one who caused Echidna's death about 400 years ago. While other witches only resent the Envy Witch's personality, Echidna also hates Satella herself.
Minerva - Among the witch souls within her, Echidna gets along best with Minerva for their shared goal of caring for others.
Roswaal Mathers - Echidna rescued the first Roswaal and helped restore her faulty door. After her death, he began dreaming of reviving her and has since possessed her descendants to achieve this goal.
Lewes Meyer and Beatrice - Echidna created both of them about 400 years before the story begins. They both see her as a true mother and refer to her as such.
Subaru Natsuki - Subaru Return by Death This ability fascinates Echidna and she does everything she can to help him. She eventually offers him a contract, but he rejects the offer after being informed by the other witches that Echidna is not entirely open.
Emilia - Echidna seems to be very close to Emilia and harbors great animosity towards the half-elf. She apparently has information about Emilia's parents.

Intelligence - Echidna's defining trait and driving force in life is the pursuit of intelligence. Her schemes, abilities, and skills make it difficult to fully understand everything she has done and accomplished behind the scenes.
Catalyzing Bodily Fluids - Echidna gave her bodily fluids to Subaru, which helped stabilize the witch factors within him.
Authority of Greed - As a Witch of Greed, she has the ability to use the Authority of Greed.
Magic User - Echidna is extremely proficient in magic and is also capable of using all six elements.
