Demons - Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer)

The original Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) manga and anime series are still running to this day. Here's a brief description of the major characters, the Demons, featured in the story so far.

Nezuko Kamado

The younger sister of Tanjiro Kamado , supposedly transformed into a demon by Muzan Kibutsuji . She is a main character who appears early on in the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba series as one of the main protagonists. Having grown up on the mountain alongside Tanjiro, she is a year younger than him and takes on the role of the eldest female member of her family. These responsibilities include taking care of the family, as well as helping with household chores.

Muzan Kibutsuji

Muzan Kibutsuji (鬼舞辻無惨) is the man responsible for transforming Nezuko into a demon, and the main antagonist of Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) . Tanjiro was immediately able to recognize him, thanks to his demon scent. Over a thousand years ago, he was the first human to become a demon. As the original demon, he is also the strongest, possessing the ability to transform any human into a demon. His Japanese voice actor is Toshihiko Seki, and his English voice is Greg Chun. Muzan makes his first appearance in chapter 11 of the manga and episode 6 of the anime adaptation.

Tamayo

Tamayo (珠世) is a beauty who allies with Tanjiro Kamado in Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) . She is a skilled doctor who was transformed into a demon by Muzan Kibutsuji . Her assistant is always nearby, Yushiro, who claims that Tamayo is the most beautiful woman in existence. Her Japanese voice actor is Maaya Sakamoto and is voiced by Laura Post in the English dub series. She first appears in chapter 14 of the manga and episode 8 of the anime.

Yushiro

Yushiro (愈史郎) is a demon who seems to be close to Tamayo . Yushiro also allies with the main protagonist, Tanjiro Kamado, in Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) . Yushiro has been in love with Tamayo for over 200 years and is willing to do anything to protect her. He obsessively attacks and insults anyone who comes between them. Tamayo gave him the choice to transform into a demon before the beginning of the story, as he was succumbing to an incurable disease. Since becoming a demon, he has remained by Tamayo's side as a guard and assistant in her clinical work. He is voiced in Japanese by Daiki Yamashita and Kyle McCarley in the English dub. He debuted with Tamayo in chapter 14 of the manga and episode 8 of the anime series.

Susamaru

Susamaru (朱紗丸) is a young girl who plays by throwing a ball and speaks an old-fashioned dialect. She is one of the antagonistic demons that attack Tanjiro in Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer). She appears with the Demon Yahaba , as they team up before a certain mission. Susamaru is voiced in Japanese by Mikako Komatsu and in English by Sarah Anne Williams. Her manga debut is in chapter 14 and episode 8 of the anime series.

Yahaba

Yahaba (矢琶羽) was a demon who aspired to join Muzan Kibutsuji's Twelve Demon Moons in Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer). He introduced himself as one of the Twelve Demon Moons, but it was revealed that he lied about it. Yahaba is usually seen with his eyes closed and possessing eyes on his palms. Partnering with Susamaru, they were ordered to bring the head of a demon slayer with hanafuda earrings referencing Tanjiro Kamado. Using his demon powers, Yahaba was able to find Tanjiro despite Yushiro's efforts to hide their location. Voiced in Japanese by Jun Fukuyama and Xander Mobus in the English dub. He debuted in chapter 14 of the manga and episode 8 of the anime series.

Temple Demon

The Temple Demon debuted in episode 2 of the anime series and is voiced by Hikaru Midorikawa in Japanese and Ben Diskin in the English dubbed adaptation. One of the first demons to appear in Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) , Tanjiro and Nezuko encounter it during their journey to Sagiri Mountain. The demon had attacked travelers who had taken refuge in a small temple on their way to Sagiri Mountain. One of the villagers mentions that it is dangerous for them to travel at night, as people have been disappearing in the area. The temple demon is a territorial demon, warning Tanjiro to stay away from its feeding ground. However, it smells different from the demon that murdered his family, so Tanjiro decides to kill it to protect the others. During this fight, a man wearing a tengu mask appears. After subduing the temple demon on a tree with a hatchet, he decides to finish it off. However, due to his gentle nature, Tanjiro is unable to deliver the final blow. The Temple Demon burns at the first peak of sunrise due to his weakness to sunlight.

Hand Demon

The Hand Demon (手鬼) is a notorious demon known for killing thirteen of Sakonji Urokodaki's apprentices, including Sabito and Makomo. Covered in multiple arms, even using its hands to stand, it became known as the Hand Demon. 47 years before the story takes place, it was captured by Sakonji Urokodaki. Voiced in Japanese by Takehito Koyasu and in English by Kirk Thornton, the Hand Demon made its first appearance in chapter 6 of the manga and episode 4 of the anime series.

Tongue Demon

The Tongue Demon (舌鬼) made a brief appearance in the Tsuzumi Mansion, where he and three demons fought for Marechi's blood in episode 12 of the Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) anime series and chapter 23 of the manga. One of the other demons being the Horned Demon , and the other being Kyogai. He is voiced by Tarusuke Shingaki in the Japanese version of the anime.

Horned Demon

One of the three demons who fought over a human in Kyogai's Tsuzumi Mansion. The other demon being the Tongue Demon and Kyogai. The Horned Demon makes an appearance in episode 12 of the Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) anime series and chapter 23 of the manga.

Swamp Demon

The Swamp Demon (沼鬼) is a demon that made an appearance during Tanjiro Kamado's first mission in Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer). He abducted a young girl every night, which attracted the attention of the Demon Slayer Corps. The Swamp Demon first appears in chapter 10 of the manga and episode 6 of the anime series. His Japanese voice actor is Ryohei Kimura, and his voice is Sean Chiplock in the English dub.

Spider Demon Family

A clan of spider demons residing in Natagumo Mountain. Led and created by Rui, the fifth Lower Moon Demon, of the Twelve Demon Moons. They are the main antagonists of the Natagumo Mountain Arc. In the series, Rui considers family to be a family affair, and he forces each of his clan members to fulfill a specific "family" role. The father and mother are expected to protect their children and give them life, while the older brother and older sister protect their younger brother. In these sacrificial roles, this is what Rui truly believes makes a family. Other members of the family include the older sister, younger brother, younger brother, and younger sister. However, Rui eliminated them when they refused or did not live up to the expectations of their role in the family.
