Beerus - Dragon Ball

Lord Beerus is a Dragon Ball character created by Akira Toriyama . His first appearance is in the 2013 film Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods as the main antagonist and returns as a supporting character in the Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection "F" film and as a main character in the Dragon Ball Super manga and anime series.

Character and personality

Beerus is a God of Destruction who, along with his assistant angel, Whis , watches over Universe 7, the universe that includes Earth following the Dragon Ball timeline with Goku. He is a purple, hairless anthropomorphism of a cat wearing Egyptian ornaments and clothing. The sclera of his eyes are golden yellow, and his pointed ears are prominent. Akira Toriyama created the character based on the physical characteristics and personality of his own 14-year-old cat. His cat survived a serious illness in the past and jokes that his cat was "demonic" and was in turn the basis for the immortal and unbeatable Beerus.

Despite his extreme power, Beerus's personality is similar to that of an ordinary cat. His playful nature and lazy behavior are characterized by long periods of sleep and grooming himself by licking his body. Furthermore, the immense power he carries gives him the confidence to display his dominance and spoiled nature by claiming whatever he desires. Beerus desires to be a foodie, loves to eat delicious food, and his planet preserves various kinds of food, including fish. His cat-like facial expressions and gestures contrast with his fearsome god-like image.

Beerus's main responsibility is to maintain the balance of the universe by destroying planets, unlike Supreme Kai, who preserves and creates it. Whis states that Beerus is a universe breaker, most often seen destroying planets. The criteria for determining which planet to annihilate is entirely based on whether the food on the planet can satisfy his hunger and appetite. Beerus is seen on numerous occasions destroying an entire planet (or half of a planet) simply because he was dissatisfied with the taste of the food.

However, in addition to his appetite for food, his appetite for fighting worthy opponents is equally important. Upon hearing of a prophecy of a Super Saiyan God with power that would rival his own, Beerus and Whis set out to find the prophecy and head to Earth. There, the Z Fighters encounter Beerus for the first time. Super Saiyan God Upon his arrival, he threatened to destroy Earth unless the Z Fighters could summon the prophecy. Goku and others with Saiyan blood, undergo a ritual that in turn grants Goku the power of a Super Saiyan God. The fight proves to be universe-shattering as Beerus and Goku clash, creating ripples that rippled through the macrocosm of Universe 7, which would destroy the universe if this continued. Eventually, Goku is defeated by Beerus and, taking advantage of the match between them, spares Goku and Earth from destruction. Declaring Goku the second strongest opponent he has ever faced, the first being his martial arts teacher and guardian, Whis.

Techniques

  • Beerus' Judgment : Lord Beerus mentions the story of using his judgment to wipe out prehistoric dinosaurs on Earth, it was after he woke up from a long sleep. Dragon Ball Super , a scene where Lord Beerus offers food to a planet full of humanoid pigs, that he decides to destroy half of the planet using his power of judgment.

  • Sphere of Destruction or Beerus Ball is when Beerus creates a small ball of sun like energy between his hands, then raises his arms, enlarges the ball and throws it.

  • Wrath of the God of Destruction is a technique Beerus uses during his fight against Goku in the film, while Hakai (Destruction) is Beerus's most powerful technique to destroy all entities and objects in the universe. Hakai can destroy a mortal's soul and body instantly, even with low-level gods. He uses this technique with Zamasu and Dr. Mashirito's ghost. All Gods of Destruction can use it.

Notable battles with other characters

  • With Goku (Super Saiyan God/Base/Super Saiyan): Beerus wakes up earlier than expected from his 40-year nap, and Whis informs him of a prophecy concerning a powerful Saiyan fighter called Super Saiyan God. Before continuing his research on Earth, he visits Goku training on King Kai's planet. He is challenged by Goku to a sparring match, a battle that ultimately leads Goku to use his ultimate moves. Although Beerus remained undefeated against Goku, he is impressed by Goku's abilities and transformation (Super Saiyan 3) despite being a mortal.

  • With Champa (Dragon Ball Super): The fight originated from an argument over which universe had the best food, leading to fistfights that were interrupted by their Angels. Universe 7's Earth became a candidate and eventually won, a factor that Universe 6 lacked. Champa became insanely jealous of Beerus and challenged him to a tournament with a representative team from their own team. Once again, this battle became Beerus's victory with the help of Earth's heroes. Another encounter with Champa took place at a baseball game, a friendly tournament between them where Beerus accepted, and they both became coaches of their team. This event turned into an argument between the two that destroyed the arena. Once again, their Angels, Vados and Whis, stopped the fight and reminded them of the rules of fighting the Gods of Destruction. As both believe they are evenly matched, Universe 7 wins an absolute victory with Vados informing them of the current location of Yamcha's hand at the base. Champa flies off with Vados and his team while doing some training.

  • With Zamasu (Zoku Black Arc): Whis, Beerus's angel, detects that Goku Black's Ki has similarities to the Supreme Kai of Universe 10. Beerus appears in a timeline where he witnessed Zamasu's evil deeds using Whis's time-traveling powers. In the present, he stops Zamasu from killing Gowasu. Zamasu becomes determined to continue his plans knowing that an evil future succeeds and charges at Goku, but Beerus interrupts him by grabbing his hand and destroys him with the God of Destruction Hakai technique.
