Plot
On his own planet, King Kai senses an early awakening of Beerus , the God of Destruction. Goku is training and overhears Lord Beerus's discussion and is excited to meet a powerful new opponent.
Whis wakes Lord Beerus at the same time as Beerus's bomb alarm goes off. Beerus becomes irritated by Whis's chanting to wake him up and gets up yawning. While eating breakfast, he is surprised after Whis tells him that Frieza has been defeated.
Whis shows the battle between Frieza and Goku. Beerus remembers a dream or premonition of a Super Saiyan God and asks his assistant to find the Saiyan. Whis tracks Goku's location and leaves. Meanwhile, Bulma celebrates her birthday and is upset that Goku isn't joining the celebration.
King Kai senses Beerus coming and warns Goku. Beerus demands to meet with Goku, and King Kai slaps Goku for acting so casually towards a God. Beerus asks Goku if he knows about Super Saiyan God, but Goku has no idea. Goku requests a quick fight from Beerus and powers up to his Super Saiyan 3 form, though the God of Destruction quickly dispatches Goku before heading to Earth.
On Earth, Vegeta is warned of Beerus's arrival by King Kai. To keep them occupied, Vegeta invites Beerus and Whis to join the party. Pilaf, Mai, and Shu (who are currently all children after wishing to become young) sneak into the party to steal the Dragon Balls. They see all the gifts in Bulma's storage and end up vandalizing them.
Beerus is surprised not only by the food, but also by the gifts. Mai and the others try to escape, but everyone notices one of the Dragon Balls fall out of her pocket. Pilaf picks it up while Mai tries to take Trunks hostage. Gohan transforms into his superhero costume, thinking it's all a game. Mai fires, but Gohan manages to deflect the bullets, but Videl ends up getting hit. Dende quickly heals her, but senses that she's pregnant, though Videl tells him to keep it a secret.
One of the bullets hits Beerus in the head, though he is unfazed by it. Vegeta continues to do his best to distract him. Beerus decides to eat again at the buffet table. Beerus then requests one of Majin Buu's , but is refused, angering the god. A battle eventually breaks out at the party.
Everyone rushes towards Beerus, even Vegeta. Meanwhile, Whis watches while eating sushi. No one is able to touch Beerus. Angry and frustrated, Bulma slaps Beerus, who slaps her back, sending Vegeta into a rage strong enough to land a few blows on Beerus.
Goku, after watching part of the battle, decides to summon Shenron and ask him what exactly a Super Saiyan God is. He learns that it takes six Saiyans to create a Super Saiyan God. Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Trunks, and Goten attempt to transform Goku into a Super Saiyan God, but fail because they are still one short. Videl takes this opportunity to tell Gohan that she is pregnant, making six Saiyans in total.
The group tries once more and begins to channel their energy into Goku, allowing him to transform into a Super Saiyan God. Beerus and Goku then fight on the condition that Earth will not be destroyed if Goku wins. Although Goku is disappointed that he can only achieve this form with the help of others, they continue to fight.
Beerus gains the upper hand and tells Goku that his pride will be the result of his downfall. Beerus taunts Goku to use his full power, but Goku charges at Beerus with his Super Saiyan form instead.
The two begin attacking each other, though Goku appears to be struggling. Goku, however, manages to absorb Beerus's attack and transforms back into a Super Saiyan God, though Goku is exhausted. Beerus considers using Hakai on Goku, but decides against it, as he tells Goku that he is the second strongest fighter he knows (Whis being the first).
Whis enjoys his parfait, while Beerus brings Goku back to Earth. Since Goku failed, Beerus begins destroying Earth, but only destroys one rock. Beerus apologizes to Bulma and is even invited to the party the following year.
Whis and Beerus leave Earth, much to Kai's surprise. Meanwhile, back on Earth, the party continues. Goku teases Vegeta about picking on Beerus because of Bulma, making him blush.
