Attack on Titan: Roar of Awakening - Attack on Titan
Attack on Titan: Roar of Awakening is the third compilation film of the Attack on Titan anime adaptation of the manga written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama . This film tells the story of the Clash of the Titans arc , which takes place in episodes 26 to 37 of the anime. In other words, this film picks up from the end of the second recap film, Wings of Freedom , and concludes with the final episode of Season 2. This film was directed by Tetsuro Araki and produced by Studio Wit. It was released in Japan on January 13, 2018.
Summary
After Annie Leonhart encases herself in a crystal and is taken away by the Survey Corps , it is revealed that there is a Titan's face inside one of the walls. As such, Section Commander Hange Zoë Elle attempts to get information from Pastor Nick, who seems to know something about the Titans within the Wall. However, even though Hange uses threats to get an answer from him, Pastor Nick refuses to talk. Hange decides her interrogation is going nowhere and gives up, but begins to wonder if all the walls have Titans hidden within them.
Twelve hours earlier, Platoon Commander Miche Zacharius had observed a group of Titans in the distance. He immediately sent Tomas to alert Commander Erwin in Stohess that Titans were coming. He asked if anyone knew the area, and Ash stated that he had extensive knowledge of the terrain and spoke on Connie 's behalf. Connie realized that the Titans were coming from her home village. As the Titans threatened her home, he offered to join the southern team, but requested a visit to her village after alerting Erwin, which Miche allowed.
Once he arrives in his village, Connie finds only ruined houses and empty streets. Desperate, he wanders around his house, hoping to find his family safe and sound, but upon arrival, he finds only a Titan lying on the roof of his ruined house. Then suddenly, the Titan speaks to him and says, "Welcome... come back... home..."
Sometime later, at Utgard Castle, due to the large number of Titans surrounding the area, Krista , a former member of the 104th Training Corps , expresses her desire to fight to the death in an effort. Ymir scolds Krista, saying that she wants to use the deaths of her superiors as an excuse to die a hero. Then, Ymir approaches Connie, asking for her knife. She asks Krista to remember the promise they made to each other years ago during their training days. At that time, Ymir had asked Krista to promise her that once her own secret was revealed, Krista would also reclaim her rightful name in return. With Connie's knife in hand, Ymir runs out of the tower to face all the mindless Titans approaching them. She takes the knife in her palm and cuts it, which reveals her secret ability to transform into a Titan. At that moment, Reiner and Bertholt watch in horror as they recognize that Ymir's Titan is the same one that devoured their friend five years prior.
Later, after the Survey Corps successfully regroup atop Wall Rose, Reiner and Bertholdt eventually reveal their true identities as well. Energy begins to surround them in front of a shocked Eren as the two explode atop the wall and transform into the Armored Titan and theColossal Titan respectively. Bitterly accepting that those he thought were his friends are actually traitors to humanity, Eren transforms into his In Attack on Titan, Eren and Ymir prepare to fight Reiner. However, Eren and Ymir are eventually kidnapped by Reiner and Bertholdt and taken to the Forest of Giant Trees in the southwestern lands of Wall Maria. The Survey Corps attempts to rescue him.
During the rescue mission, the Titans begin to approach the kidnappers and the Survey Corps. While hiding in the trees, Eren recognizes one of the Mindless Titans as the one who ate his mother and Hannes before his eyes: the Smiling Titan . Fueled by frustration, rage, and helplessness, Eren screams and punches Titan. This causes a new power to awaken, controlling the Mindless Titans and forcing them to eat the Smiling Titan. Reiner's group calls this power the "Coordinate."
Shortly after this event, Erwin is seen recovering from his injuries in the Trost District. There, he has a discussion with Commander Pixis and Captain Levi . Hange also visits them and explains the recent discoveries she and some of her colleagues have made in Ragako, Connie's village. According to her evidence, the Titans that invaded Wall Rose were indeed citizens of Ragako, suggesting that the Titans are actually humans. After they explain all this information, Levi begins to worry, as he may have spent many years of his life in the military killing humans instead of the monsters he thought he was killing. Hange attempts to calm him down, saying that she does not have enough conclusive evidence to confirm her theory yet. Meanwhile, Erwin simply remains silent, which bothers Levi. When Levi questions his rather neutral reaction, Erwin states that humanity is making great strides that bring it closer to the truth about the world it lives in.
