Mahoraga vs. Gojo

Mahoraga vs. Gojo: How Powerful is the Divine General Compared to Gojo in Jujutsu Kaisen

Majoraga is not only one of the main characters of Jujutsu Kaisen but also one of the most promising jujutsu wizards of his generation. He even believes that he is capable of becoming as strong as him and the main reason behind this is that he is the strongest Shikigami in the Ten Shadows technique. Here we will discuss Mahoraga vs Gojo and the strength of Shikigami compared to Gojo.

In this article, we will look at who Mahoraga is, his powers and abilities, and how strong he is against Gojo. Before we do that, we will post a spoiler alert for those who are not yet aware of the manga.

Divine General Mahoraga: Apparition

Divine General Mahoraga: Appearance

Before we talk about who Mahoraga is, we need to talk about the Ten Shadows Technique. This technique is a cursed technique inherited from the clan and is considered the most powerful cursed technique in the clan.

In fact, according to Gojo, in ancient times, the heads of the Gojo and Zenin families were enemies and fought against each other armed with Limitless, Six Eyes, and Ten Shadows respectively. He also reveals that the Ten Shadows technique has the potential to become as deadly as Limitless and make the user as strong as Gojo himself.

But among the technique's many Shikigami, none is as strong and formidable as the Eight-Hilted Divine Sword Sila Divine General Mahoraga. This is the most powerful Shikigami that any user of the Ten Shadows Technique has ever been able to exorcise in history. Because of this, it is always a wild card and capable of killing the user when summoned for an exorcism.

During the Shibuya Incident arc, Megumi summons Mahoraga for an exorcism ritual as a last resort to kill Haruta Shigemo, knowing that the Shikigami will kill him first. He is only saved thanks to the intervention of .

Unlike other Shikigami who only take certain hand signs for Megumi to summon, Mahoraga needs him to chant an incantation with the hand sign. To summon Mahoraga, Megumi clenches two fists facing each other before reciting "With this treasure, I summon the divergent eight-handled sword Sila Divine General Mahoraga."

Mahoraga appears as a humanoid figure with a frightening appearance. It is quite muscular with four wings protruding from its eye sockets. There is another long protrusion on the back of its head. The Shikigami has a blade attached to the wrist of its right arm. Mahoraga's biggest and most prominent feature is the eight-pointed wheel floating above his head.

Power and abilities

Power And Abilities

As stated before, Mahoraga is the strongest Shikigami and if used correctly, can act as the greatest weapon against Gojo and Sukuna. The Shikigami's humanoid form already gives it an advantage over ordinary curse users. Since he is huge in size, it is difficult to physically harm him. The fact that no user of the Ten Shadows Technique in history has been able to exorcise Mahoraga even with outside help is proof enough of the Shikigami's powers.

However, the most deadly ability that Mahoraga possesses, which makes him so deadly, is his adaptability. Mahoraga can adapt to anything he experiences, no matter how unique or powerful it may be. When the wheel above Mahoraga's head spins, she completely adapts to any cursed technique she experiences directly.

This is first seen when Mahoraga confronts Sukuna during the Shibuya Incident arc. At first he takes heavy damage from Sukuna, but once the wheels turn he adapts to Takedown and can counter it perfectly. However, different cursed techniques require a different number of turns for Mahoraga to fully adapt.

For example, while Mahoraga adapts to Dismantle with a single turn of the wheel, it takes four turns for the Shikigami to adapt to Gojo's Infinity. But no matter how many turns it takes, Mahoraga will be able to adapt to every phenomenon that happens to him.

Weaknesses

Weaknesses

Truth be told, Mahoraga's only weakness is that he has to hit first to adjust to the attack. If the opponent can end it with a single hit, which is very unlikely, then Mahoraga is completely useless in a fight.

Against an opponent like Gojo whose innate cursed techniques are more complicated and powerful than anyone else, Mahoraga takes a long time to adapt. Gojo has four chances to destroy Mahoraga before he can adapt to Infinity. Four chances is a lot for someone as strong as Gojo and the only reason Gojo can't end Mahoraga with those chances is because of Sukuna's intervention.

How Powerful Is Mahoraga With Sukuna?

The full potential of a Shikigami is only realized in the hands of its user. In Mahoraga's case, Sukuna is the only jujutsu wizard in history to exorcise the fearsome Shikigami and use it in combat. Although the Ten Shadows Technique is not his innate Cursed Technique, Sukuna uses it to its fullest.

While fighting Yorozu, Sukuna uses Mahoraga for the first time as a user of the Ten Shadows Technique and already shows surprising mastery in its use. He carries Mahoraga's wheel above his head and uses his power of adaptation to get used to Yorozu's construct.

During his fight against Gojo, Sukuna uses Mahoraga near the end when Gojo is significantly weakened. He hides Mahoraga in the shadows for a long time, biding his time for the perfect opportunity. He causes the Shikigami to adapt to Gojo's Infinity and stops Gojo from doing so as he takes time to adapt.

In short, Mahoraga is at the peak of his power when used by Sukuna.

During the battle against Gojo in Shinjuku, Sukuna hides Mahoraga in the shadows to secretly trick him into adapting to Gojo's limitless emptiness. However, he makes sure not to bear the burden of adaptation and that falls on Megumi. So when Sukuna finally lets Mahoraga out of the shadows, the Shikigami has already been adapted to Unlimited Void which renders the Gojo completely useless.

Mahoraga then confronts Gojo to adapt to his Infinity. Gojo tries to destroy it several times but with Sukuna's intervention, it's a tough job to do. Mahoraga adapts to Infinity after four turns of the wheel and even adapts to Cursed Energy Lapse: Blue.

After adapting to Infinity, Mahoraga cuts off Gojo's arm but he quickly heals himself with the Reverse Cursed technique. At the end of the fight, as Gojo plans to converge the red and blue techniques to create Hollow Purple, Mahoraga flies into the air to destroy the blue technique.

However, it is his adaptation to Blue's technique that causes him to lose as Gojo uses Blue's force of attraction to rush past Mahoraga in the air and strike the Shikigami. When the Red and Blue techniques finally converge, the incredibly destructive Hollow Purple destroys everything around it, including Mahoraga.

Conclusion

We conclude this article by pointing out that in Mahoraga's battle against Gojo, Gojo is the clear winner. Mahoraga may be the Zenin clan's strongest weapon but as the story shows, he still has a long way to go to defeat Satoru Gojo.
