Zerofuku in the Record of Ragnarok series has always been a complex character, who evolved a lot in his fight against Buddha. He is also one of the only gods in the series who does not have a mythological equivalent.

Zerofuku is the fusion of the Seven Gods of Fortune and is the strongest fusion among them. All the souls of the Seven Gods unite as one, giving birth to this supreme and powerful God for Zerofuku.
He was also the warrior who fought and lost in the 6th Round. This was also the original form of the Seven Gods of Fortune before they were split into 7 different identities.
Even then, Jack the Ripper noticed that they collectively had the same soul. He also has a hole in place of his heart, signifying his title as God of Misfortune. Coincidentally, he also has many connections to Buddha in his past.
I. Zerofuku's past in Record of Ragnarok

Just then, he noticed Buddha there, accompanied by a long line of disciples. Buddha had done nothing to eliminate the misery of humans, but all the humans who followed him seemed happier than the people Zerofuku saved.
After speaking with Buddha, that's when Zerofuku realized he had done everything wrong. He ran away, because we are jealous of what Buddha was doing.
He later also became hateful towards humanity, wanting to destroy them all. But he was still unable to kill a mother and her child and divided himself into the seven gods of fortune that we know now.
II. Zerofuku's relationship with Hajun
Nearly a millennium ago, Beelzebub planted the last remains of Hajun in Zerofuku. These remains of Hajun were modified and implanted on his head as one of his horns.
Slowly, these Hajun parasite cells began to invade Zerofuku's body. This only started happening during Zerofuku's fight against Buddha. He was defeated by Buddha and was lying on the ground when this suddenly happened.

Then two dragons came out from both places and created an egg-like shell and protected it. And, from this egg-shaped structure, a resurrected Hajun returned to kill Buddha.
III. Zerofuku's Power Level in Record of Ragnarok
Zerofuku is one of the most powerful gods, and if his opponent wasn't Buddha, he would have had a great chance of winning. Buddha had the ability of foresight and was easily able to dodge all of Zerofuku's deadly attacks.
The best part about Zerofuku is that he is angrier and more miserable, his weapon also responds the same way. His Misery Cleaver continues to become more deadly and more powerful if he is in misery.
This was also manifested in his fight against Buddha. Zerofuku's weapon had grown from a simple battle ax to an ax 100 times larger than Zerofuku himself.

V. How did Buddha help Zerofuku?
Buddha was the main reason why Zerofuku completely changed himself. His jealousy and hatred towards Buddha made him the man he is today. This was also the main reason why he wanted to fight Buddha in Ragnarok.
However, Buddha also understood Zerofuku's true feelings. Buddha began to show the difference between their two power levels and finished the hand-to-hand combat.
This had proven Zerofuku right, as we see him happily lying down and defeated. Even though he had been throwing tantrums all along, Buddha had still managed to help him and defeat him at the same time.
