At this point, even people outside of the anime community are no stranger to the popular shounen series Jujutsu Kaisen, filled with some of the strongest characters. Written by Gege Akutami, the series is based on the concept of Jujutsu sorcery using cursed energy.
The plot is unique, with many complex elements and different concepts mixed together. Animated by Mappa Studio, the anime has received widespread praise around the world for its stunning art style and quality.
Currently the story has progressed quite far into the verse. So, many interesting, powerful and unique characters were introduced. So today we bring you a list of the 30 strongest Jujutsu Kaisen characters, based on the current manga chapters.

30) Master Tengen
Master Tengen continued the founding of Jujutsu witchcraft for centuries. They are an immortal, cursed human spirit. Since they have continued to evolve, they no longer have a regular human appearance.
Tengen is a master of barrier techniques. Therefore, their cursed technique protects Jujutsu High locations as well as the Star Corridor Tombs. Additionally, he is an extremely intelligent and skilled wizard. They are by far the oldest OG wizard and, of course, one of the strongest characters in Jujutsu Kaisen.
29) Naoya Zenine
Naoya Zenin is the son of Naobito Zenin, the head of the Zenin clan, and a level 1 special jujutsu wizard. This makes him the cousin of Toji, Maki and Mai, and the uncle of Megumi. He is also the leader of the Hei, the most powerful group in the Zenin family.
Naoya is a powerful jujutsu sorcerer and has inherited his father's innate cursed technique, projection sorcery. After his death, he becomes a vengeful cursed spirit and even acquires his own domain expansion: Time Cell Moon Palace. However, no matter how strong he thinks he is, he doesn't compare himself to Maki and Toji.
28) Hiromi Higuruma
The Culling Game, orchestrated by, not only embodies many ancient jujutsu sorcerers in modern times, but also awakens the cursed energy of many non-cursed users. One of these previously ordinary civilians is the defense attorney.
Although he never knew anything about cursed energy and the world of jujutsu, Higuruma mastered it all in record time and even mastered his own domain expansion: mortal punishment.
27) Choso
Choso is a cursed womb: painting of death, created by Kenjaku in the body of Noritoshi Kamo by imbuing a human woman with a cursed spirit. This indirectly makes Choso a son of Kenjaku. Choso is also the brother of Kechizu, Eso and the other six cursed wombs along with Yuji Itadori.
Thanks to being created by Noritoshi Kamo's body, Choso can use the cursed technique inherited from the Kamo clan: blood manipulation. His signature technique is Piercing Blood which allows him to harden blood and use it as a cutting weapon.
26) Yuji Itadori
The protagonist of the series is also one of the strongest characters in Jujutsu Kaisen. At the beginning of the story, he becomes the vessel of the King of Curses. This already makes him incredibly powerful, even if Sukuna almost never lends the boy his powers.
Yuji's true power is his own. He has always been physically gifted and is one of the best physical fighters in history. Along with this, he is also one of only three people to have played Black Flash four times in a row. Yuji does not yet have a Cursed Technique but he has a special technique called Divergent Fist which hits the target with his cursed energy a few milliseconds after the physical blow.
25) Megumi Fushiguro
is one of the first year students of Tokyo Jujutsu High. Son and sold to the Zenin family who raised him, Megumi trained with Gojo. He has incredible potential since even Sukuna recognizes him and, therefore, steps in to save him whenever he puts his life in danger. Indeed, Megumi is a vital person in Sukuna's secret future plans to retain her body as his new vessel.
Megumi inherited the powerful Ten Shadows Technique from the Zenin family. According to legends, this technique is of the same level as Limitless, and the Shikigami that makes it so is horribly powerful. Megumi also has an incomplete Chimera Shadow Garden.
24) Kento Nanami
The fan-favorite character, , is a first-year jujutsu wizard who was once a student of Tokyo Jujutsu High. After leaving the world of jujutsu after graduation, he later returned because he thought it was all meaningless. Since Gojo introduced him to Yuji, he became a sort of mentor to the boy.
Nanami's rank as a level 1 jujutsu wizard is proof enough of his skills. For some time now, he has been the only one to have performed Black Flash four times in a row. He is also a very capable physical fighter. His cursed technique, Ratio Technique, allows him to forcibly create a weak point on his opponent's body at a ratio of 7:3.
23) Aoi Todo
Next in this ranking is Yuji's "brother" and "best friend", Aoi Todo. Todo is a third year student at Kyoto Jujutsu High and their strongest student. He is a level 1 jujutsu wizard who was trained by the special level jujutsu witch, herself.
Thanks to his muscular body and sharp instincts, Todo is incredible at physical combat and can make anyone run for their money. He is also one of the few wizards who can use Black Flash. However, it's his cursed technique, Boogie Woogie, that makes his powers so interesting. The seemingly simple but incredibly useful technique allows Todo to swap places with anything around him with just a flick of his hand.
22) Dhruv Lakdawalla
The oldest participant in the Culling Game is Dhruv Lakdawalla, a jujutsu wizard who dominated the jujutsu world 2000 years ago and single-handedly conquered Japan during the Wa Civil War. Since then, he has been incarnated twice, once at an unknown time and the last time by Kenjaku when the Culling Game began.
Needless to say, Dhruv is a very powerful jujutsu wizard who possesses a cursed technique based on Shikigami. But no matter how strong he is, he doesn't stand a chance against Yuta. This is why he occupies 22nd place here in this ranking of the 30 strongest Jujutsu Kaisen characters.
21) Dagon
Dagon is one of the Fingerbearers, which means he is a cursed spirit of special quality. It existed as a cursed womb until the Shibuya incident. It manifested due to people's hatred towards water-related disasters and therefore has the appearance of an octopus. Additionally, he is aligned with Mahito's faction.
Dagon is known to have the toughest skin among all cursed spirits and can also use Domain Expansion. We see him fully manifest in his true form during his fight against the great Jujutsu sorcerers. He managed to defeat Naobito, Nanami and Maki. However, he eventually succumbs to Toji Fushiguro's powers.
20) Hanami
Along with Jogo, Mahito, and Dagon, Hanami is one of the unregistered special quality cursed spirits who ally with Kenjaku. The cursed spirit was born from humans' fear of natural disasters on earth and is one of the strongest characters in Jujutsu Kaisen.
Hanami's powers are nature-based and allow her to control the plant life around her. Their cursed technique, Disaster Plants, is quite versatile and can be used in both offense and defense. The Cursed Spirit can also use Domain Amplification and does so during his fight against Gojo in Shibuya.
Hanami also has a domain extension named Ceremonial Sea of Light which ensures that the light beam ejected from her shoulder hits the captured target in the domain. But they don't have the opportunity to use it properly in combat.
19) Mahito
is a special quality cursed spirit said to have the power of at least three of Sukuna's fingers. Despite being a spirit, Mahito is the only cursed spirit closest to human appearance, speech, and emotion. He works with Psuedo Geto/Kenjaku and manages his faction.
Mahito's entire range of cursed techniques are deadly and morally questionable. One of his powerful cursed techniques is Idle Transfiguration, where he can reshape any soul, including his own. This allows him to heal and change physical form.
During the Shibuya Incident, he proved to be a tough opponent against some of the most powerful wizards, such as Nanami, Itadori, Nobara, etc.
18) Jogo
Jogo is one of the finger bearers; therefore, it is a special level cursed spirit that looks down on human beings. He is aligned with Mahito's faction and is incredibly intelligent. Jogo can cast a powerful domain called Disaster Flames as well as several other techniques. His cursed techniques are based on fire and possess an incredible level of volcanic destruction. Additionally, he is incredibly fast and agile.
We see him in action several times in the manga, fighting against various powerful wizards. The most notable event was his fight against Sukuna during the Shibuya Incident. He was able to fight against Sukuna for quite a while until he eventually succumbed to his powers. Jogo has proven his powers enough times to be considered one of the strongest characters in Jujutsu Kaisen.
17) Kurourushi
Kurourushi is a special quality cursed spirit that manifests due to people's hatred of cockroaches. He participated in the Culling Game and can even use the domain extension. Kurourushi has faced Yuta twice since he managed to survive the first time. This even overpowered Yuta at one point during their first fight.
His innate technique is called Cockroach Manipulation, where he can summon a huge amount of man-eating cockroaches. Additionally, Kurourushi uses a cursed tool called The Festering Life Sword, an enchanted sword that contains cursed insect eggs that infest his opponent. The eggs hatch inside their bodies and burst, eating away the flesh.
16) Fumihiko Takaba
was simply a struggling comedian living his life. Until Kenjaku marks him, and as a result, he releases his cursed energy and becomes a Jujutsu wizard. Takaba participated in the Culling Game. He has a quirky and distant personality and thinks he's really funny.
Takaba's cursed technique is called Comedian, which is very unique. His cursed technique allows him to conjure up any scenario he deems undeniably funny and turn it into reality.
As a result, his technique is dangerous and could easily defeat any opponent. His technique is said to be effective even against Satoru Gojo. He is seen in action when he protects Megumi during her fight against Reggie Star and Iori Hazenoki.
15) Takako Uro
Takako Uro is a wizard that Kenjaku resurrects to participate in the Culling Game. She was the leader of a group of assassins made up of various elite wizards. Therefore, she is an invincible fighter in terms of combat skills and has a very powerful cursed technique.
Uro's innate technique is called Sky Manipulation, which allows him to manipulate space. She can turn any plane into a weapon and even distort it to her advantage. We see her in action at her peak when she puts up a big fight against Yuta during the Culling Game.
14) Ryu Ishiguro
Ryu Ishiguro is a wizard resurrected from the past to participate in the Culling Game, needless to say, of Kenjaku. He possesses an exceptional amount of cursed energy and more destructive force than any Culling Game player.
His innate technique is called Cursed Energy Discharge, where he projects destructive beams of cursed energy through his pompadour hairstyle. As he possesses the greater output of cursed energy than most wizards, each of his beams is highly destructive and covers a great distance.
The sheer brute force of his rays is enough to defeat powerful wizards such as Dhruv Lakdawalla, Kurourushi, Uro, etc. Ryu is undoubtedly one of the strongest characters in Jujutsu Kaisen so far.
13) Yorozu
When Kenjaku begins the Culling Game, Yorozu is one of the former curse users to be incarnated in the present time. Unfortunately, she incarnates in the body of Tsumiki Fushiguro, Megumi's sister-in-law. The Heian period curse user is also an obsessive fan of Sukuna, believing herself to be the only one capable of loving him and healing his loneliness.
Despite her manic tendencies, Yorozu is a very powerful curse user, although she cannot stand up to Sukuna. Her cursed technique, Construct, allows her to create anything she knows with her cursed energy, even if it is outside the laws of physics, such as True Sphere. Its domain expansion, Threefold Affliction, gives these dangerous true spheres a sure effect.
12) Hajime Kashimo
Hajime Kashimo is a 400 year old wizard who inhibits a random body that Kenjaku prepared for him. After defeating everyone in his time, the old jujutsu wizard became bored with life and wanted to fight someone strong. It was then that Kenjaku offered him a chance to fight the powerful Sukuna. For centuries, he existed as a cursed object due to his binding vow with Kenjaku until he freed him to participate in the Culling Game.
Kashimo's powers are based on electricity, so much so that even his cursed energy is electric. His cursed technique, Mythical Beast Amber, is a fearsome attack revealed during his fight against Sukuna. Kashimo is one of the strongest characters in Jujutsu Kaisen but since losing to Hakari, he is in 12th place.
11) Kinji Hakari
Kinji is a suspended third-year student at Tokyo Jujutsu High. He simply refused to respect the biased and unfair rules of superiors. Kinji has exceptional levels of cursed energy. His cursed energy has a rough texture like sandpaper that is very painful to his opponents. Since he relies on his raw strength, he is highly skilled in Taijutsu, meaning he possesses an exceptional level of hand-to-hand combat skills. His incredible potential is also recognized by Gojo.
Kinji's domain expansion is called Idle Death Gamble, which suggests that the rules and theme of his domain would be heavily based on gaming. Currently, he is fighting against their ice-based powers. We'll wait until the final chapter comes out to find out.
10) Uraume
Uraume is a thousand-year-old sorcerer, extremely loyal to Sukuna and his ideology. Before Sukuna took over Megumi's body, they were aligned with Kenjaku's faction. Uraume's innate technique is Ice Formation which allows them to generate and manipulate ice. They are also capable of using the Reverse Cursed technique.
We see her in action during the Shibuya Incident, where they subdue most of the wizards present. Therefore, their overall technique is difficult to master and manage.
9) Suguru Geto
Suguru Geto was one of Gojo's comrades and his best friend. He was one of the four special grade wizards until he fell prey to his hatred towards non-wizards and wanted to eliminate them. Geto massacred hundreds of people and even used members of his cult to get closer to his goal. Kenjaku then possessed her body after her death.
Suguru's innate technique is cursed spirit manipulation which allows him to control and absorb cursed spirits and other curses. All of his cursed techniques are too brutal and life-threatening. Additionally, Suguru is also an exceptional fighter with incredible agility. It uses a cursed tool called Playful Cloud, which is quite difficult to master.
8) Yuki Tsukumo
Yuki Tsukumo is one of the four special grade wizards. She left Jujutsu High due to their short-sightedness and desire to protect humans from curses. Therefore, Yuki is an independent wizard who is always on the move to achieve the noble goal of eliminating the root causes of curses.
As a special grade witch, she is very powerful. She has a Shikigami named Garuda which is directly connected to her innate technique. Her cursed technique, Star Rage, allows her to add virtual mass to herself and Garuda. Yuki has also mastered the reverse curse technique and domain amplification. She also has a domain but she can't use it in the story.
7) Hana Kurusu
Hana Kurusu becomes one of the participants in the Culling Game after an ancient jujutsu sorcerer incarnates into her body. But unlike other incarnations, Kurusu does not lose complete control of his body. Rather, she and the ancient wizard Angel form a symbiotic partnership.
Angel's Cursed Technique is the nullification of other techniques, officially named the Extinction Technique. His most powerful technique, Jacob's Ladder, is one of the most powerful techniques featured in the story and is responsible for freeing Gojo from the Prison Realm.
The team of Kurusu and Angel is undoubtedly one of the strongest powerhouses in Jujutsu Kaisen, perhaps even surpassing Maki and Yuta. But Kurusu almost never uses his power for offensive purposes and hasn't shown much of it. That's why it's at number 7.
6) Zenine Maki
Although she was born into one of the three noble families of the jujutsu world, she was born with so little cursed energy that she could not even see cursed spirits. After suffering a lifelong failure in the Zenin family, Maki vowed to become a powerful jujutsu witch and the head of the family.
Maki's lack of cursed energy is made up for by superhuman physical prowess that allows her to counter and even defeat powerful jujutsu wizards and cursed spirits. She used cursed tools to combat and exorcise curses, but when her twin sister Mai dies, she takes all of Maki's cursed energy with her, leaving her without cursed energy.
When Maki finally loses all of her cursed energy, her true potential is unleashed. Thanks to Heavenly Restraint, she reaches her peak and becomes as strong as Toji Fushiguro. This makes Maki one of the strongest characters in Jujutsu Kaisen.
5) Toji Fushiguro
Toji Fushiguro belonged to the Zenin family but left the family due to their dirty politics. After marrying his wife, he took her last name to rid himself of everything related to the Zenin family. One thing that is absolutely clear is that Toji is the most powerful non-curse user of Jujutsu Kaisen. He is an assassin known as the Sorcerer Killer who would murder anyone as long as the money was appropriate.
Toji single-handedly overpowered Gojo and Geto during Gojo's past arc. Although he doesn't use cursed energy, he makes up for it with his physical strength and sheer skill. He is a master of weaponry and remains undefeated. Therefore, there is no doubt that he is one of the strongest characters in Jujutsu Kaisen.
4) Kenjaku
Kenjaku is one of the two main antagonists of the series. Living for centuries, it has notable wizards, such as Noritoshi Kamo. As Noritoshi, he experimented in countless inhumane ways to achieve his goal of "evolving" humans to their full potential. He created Cursed Womb: Death Paintings, for example.
This is why he has been called the most evil wizard in history. Currently, he possesses Suguru Geto's body and has succeeded in all his plans so far. Kenjaku's cursed technique allows him to transplant his brain into anyone, dead or alive. As long as he has a body, he can use their cursed energy and cursed techniques.
Therefore, we see him go unnoticed by the Six Eyes of Gojo. Kenjaku being the mastermind behind everything and succeeding, is undoubtedly one of the strongest characters in Jujutsu Kaisen.
3) Yuta Okkotsu
is one of the protagonists of the series. With , a special grade cursed spirit, Yuta is a special grade jujutsu wizard. Considered Gojo's successor due to his exceptional potential, he is a second year student at Tokyo Jujutsu High. Yuta is easily one of the OP characters in the series, as he remains undefeated thus far.
Yuta can imitate/use any cursed technique in front of him with Rika's help. Additionally, he is also an exceptional fighter proficient in various cursed tools and possessing incredible combat skills. Yuta and Rika single-handedly defeated the strongest players in Sendai Colony. Rika being a special cursed spirit, possesses an insane amount of cursed energy and can fight independently alongside Yuta. They are both exceptionally strong characters in the series.
2) Satoru Gojo
Satoru Gojo is a special level wizard and teacher at Tokyo Jujutsu High, a true wizard in every way. He nourishes and protects his students from the damage caused by the politics of superiors.
He came from the Gojo family and became the only person in 400 years to inherit both, Six Eyes and Limitless. Gojo casts powerful and different domain types using his innate technique, Limitless.
Since he can manipulate and control space and time, he is literally untouchable. Her Hollow Technique: Violet is by far the most powerful technique we've seen so far in the series. His domain, Unlimited Void, is also the most powerful domain in the series outside of Sukuna's Malevolent Sanctuary.
Aside from his invincible cursed techniques, he is also an exceptional fighter with insane speed, agility, and raw strength. Additionally, he can also use the Reverse Cursed and Black Flash technique. Since he is simply invincible, Gojo is the second strongest character in Jujutsu Kaisen, overpowered by only one.
1) Ryomen Sukuna
Sukuna is the ultimate antagonist of the series. He is a 1000 year old wizard crowned “King of Curses”. He successfully incarnated into Itadori's body when he ate one of his cursed fingers.
He was as powerful as he could be considered an imaginary demon in his time since he had four hands and four eyes. It took an army of wizards to defeat him. However, because his curse was so powerful, his 20 indestructible fingers were sealed away using powerful sorcery. Despite this, since each of his fingers is a cursed item of special quality, they attract each other and weaken the seal over time. As a result, they were spread across several sites.
Now, Sukuna specializes in binding wishes and creates a must-have domain, the Malevolent Sanctuary. Once inside its domain, it is impossible to escape without establishing a binding vow according to its requirements. Sukuna has eliminated every opponent he has faced so far in the series without even breaking a sweat. Additionally, Malevolent Shrine remains the most powerful domain in the series.
Additionally, he also uses extremely fast and deadly attacks such as Dismantle and Cleave. He is capable of using the Reverse Cursed technique as well as hand-to-hand combat skills exceptionally well. Recently, he used an unknown cursed technique based on fire.
Therefore, Sukuna is by far the strongest character in Jujutsu Kaisen.
