Kagurabachi: Wiki and plot information
Kagurabachi is a fantasy action manga written and illustrated by Takeru Hokazono. The manga debuted on September 17, 2023 in Weekly Shonen Jump and made its first digital appearance on Viz Media and Manga Plus on September 19. Like other titles from popular manga magazines, Kagurabachi will be released on a weekly basis. The story of Kagurabachi revolves around a young man named Chihiro Rokuhira who lives with his father and makes swords under his guidance. With determination and a deep respect for the profession and for his father, he wishes to become a master swordsman in the future. Chihiro's idle life is turned upside down one fateful day when a group of wizards come to their home in search of the enchanted swords that her father, Kunishige, forged during the war. Kunishige collected the mighty swords after the war and hid them to prevent evil hands from obtaining them. The group, calling themselves Hishaku, injures Chihiro and kills Kunishige before stealing the enchanted swords. When Chihiro comes to his senses after Shiba arrives, he vows to hunt down the people who killed his father and recover the enchanted swords to prevent them from being used against his father's philosophy. Armed with the latest and strongest enchanted sword forged by Kunishige, Chihiro sets off on a bloody journey with Shiba's help.
Kagurabachi: main characters
The manga currently only has 6 chapters, having been released recently. So the number of significant characters is also very low. For now, five characters are guaranteed to have a significant impact on the story. He is introduced in the story as a 14-year-old child living with his single father. Chihiro works diligently as a blacksmith's apprentice under her father. As his father is a carefree man, he ends up taking care of both of them. But he loves his father very much and respects his craft, wanting to be as talented and skilled a blacksmith as the man. Chihiro's life is turned upside down when four wizards come to their house looking for the enchanted swords made by her father Kunishige. He is later found by Shiba, sitting near his father's corpse with a gnarled scar on the left side of his face. Chihiro was entrusted with the last and most powerful enchanted sword made by her father. The central motivation of Chihiro's character is the murder of her father, Kunishige Rokuhira. Kunishige is the best swordsman in the world who made many swords during the war. At the beginning of the story, he lives with his son in an isolated house protected by an enchanted barrier. Kunishige is very passionate about his work and believes that as swordsmiths, they bear the burden of using their creation. He teaches Chihiro not only the craft of swordsmanship, but also the philosophy behind it and is moved when Chihiro says he wants to become a swordsmith, just like his father. During the war, Kunishige made six enchanted swords that he collected after the war and hid them in his home to prevent them from falling into the hands of bad people. It's the hunt for the enchanted swords that leads the group of evil wizards Hishaku to track him down and kill him before stealing them.3) Shiba
Aside from her father, Shiba is the only person who has been a constant in Chihiro's life. Shiba is a wizard and close friend of Kunishige who visits them occasionally. The man knows Chihiro very well and cares about him. Shiba is apparently one of the people who knows the location of the enchanted swords. On the day Hishaku visits the Rukohira household, Shiba arrives late to find Kunishige dead and Chihiro sitting traumatized next to her father's corpse. Later, he helps the boy search for the stolen enchanted swords.4) Hinao
Hinao is the owner of Café Haru Haru, an establishment that serves as both a café and an entrepreneur who connects wizards with Yakuza gangs and large corporations that need their services. The young woman has known Shiba for a while and met Chihiro through him. She is currently passing them information about Hishaku to help her find the evil wizards and recover her father's enchanted swords.5) Tank
Central character of the first arc of the manga, Char is a little girl who comes to Hinao's café with information about enchanted swords. She clearly ran away from somewhere, although she won't divulge any information about how she reached Hinao's cafe or who is chasing her. Char only reveals that a "bad guy" is chasing her and that she needs protection. When she comes to Hinao's cafe, she is clearly starving and needs to rest. After her information about enchanted swords turns out to be true and she is attacked by a sorcerer, Chihiro swears to be her protector.Is it worth reading Kagurabachi?
Kagurabachi may be new but the manga is exceptionally gripping even with only six chapters. The plot already seems very exciting, the characters are likeable, the power system seems intriguing, and the art is to die for. But the best aspect of the manga might just be the protagonist. Chihiro Rokuhira is already shaping up to be a very interesting protagonist who has the potential to become as popular as Jujutsu Kaisen, My Hero Academia, and The Chainsaw Man. He is powerful and intelligent and has a goal in mind as well as a tragic and heartfelt story. The manga is quite brutal and bloody at times, but only enough for every type of reader to enjoy.Conclusion
