How do I request a reissue of a figurine?
When I started collecting figurines, it opened up a whole new world for me. I found myself scouring the internet for figurines of my favorite characters. What followed was a combination of excitement and dismay. The excitement comes from discovering the many figurines I would love to get my hands on. And dismay because many of these figurines have become holy grails and are now difficult or far too expensive to obtain.
Later I realized that the figures can be re-released. Whether a figure is re-released depends on many factors, one of which is the popularity of the figure. If the figurine is in high demand, a reissue may take place. Older figures are much less likely to be re-released because the figure's original molds are likely already lost. Having the original molds makes the reissue process easier.
How do I request a reissue of a particular figurine?
In fact, you can make your voice heard by figurine makers. Good Smile Company has a reissue request form that you can find here .
For figures from other companies, you will need to find their website and search for their contact page in order to email them.
Of course, you can't request a reissue of a figure from a company that no longer exists. Over the years, several figurine manufacturers have bitten the dust, including Griffon Enterprises and Aquamarine.
For the best prices, buy pre-order
To avoid this dilemma, always make sure to purchase a figure during the pre-order period. We regularly do a pre-order roundup where we look at new bishoujo figure releases. You can follow us on social media to make sure you're notified of new releases .
Is there a difference between first releases and reissues?
In most cases, there is no difference between a first release and subsequent releases. This is not always the case, however. Some figures have recolored reissues, but they generally do not fall into the reissue category. Some reissues of figures have bonus accessories or alternate breastplates. It's rare but it happens.
Some have minimal differences. In a case of re-release, the Nendoroid Ahri was initially only sold at the venue of the League of Legends World Championship in 2014. The initial version had a black box. The reissue that came out 4 years later had a white box.
Companies are re-releasing figures more often now
While it's a good thing that companies are making more re-releases of their popular figures, you'll probably have to wait several years for a re-release to go up for pre-order. Then you'll wait another year or two for the release date. If possible, pre-order early.
What should I do if I missed a pre-order and don't want to wait for a re-release?
If the figurine you want is no longer available for pre-orders but has not yet been released, you can make a search requesthere
If the figure you want hasn't been out for a long time, you can look into used figure stores. You can also check figurine communities to see if anyone is selling theirs. Just be sure to use a secure payment method to avoid getting scammed.
