How strong is Enel in One Piece?

One Piece has many strong characters to boast about, especially evident in the most recent arcs of the very long-running series. Although new story arcs continue to bring fascinating characters to the pages and screens, many extremely strong characters were already introduced to the series long ago.

Some of these characters remained adversaries for the future, while other strongmen were dismissed as former villains. One of these characters is Enel. So now the question arises: how strong is Enel exactly?

Enel >= Admirals = First Commanders

Enel is one of the strongest characters introduced in the One Piece series. Not only does he have the power of a powerful devil fruit, that is, Goro Goro no Mi, but also his Observation Haki is on the other level.

He can listen to conversations about himself from far away; on Skypiea they call it “mantra”. Its lightning ability is devastating and with a known maximum power of 200 million volts, Enel can effortlessly wipe out most opponents.

The only way to survive is to counter them with strong/advanced Armament Haki. Additionally, his fruit grants him the ability of lighting speed. With this speed, formidable offensive attack, and advanced Observation Haki, there is no doubt that Enel is at Admiral level or even higher.

Who is Enel in One Piece?

Enel appears in the Skypiea arc of One Piece and acts as the main antagonist of the arc. An incredibly strong character, Enel possessed a powerful Logia-type Devil Fruit, Goro Goro no Mi, which would be a real problem to deal with in a battle.

Too bad for Enel, his opponent turned out to be his natural enemy. Facing the rubber man Luffy, he was unable to maintain his "divinity". But that doesn't mean Enel wasn't strong enough.

In fact, he was more substantial than Luffy in every aspect, but the pirate won through the sheer luck of being naturally resistant to Enel's power.

But now, with Luffy's powerful powers finally revealed, it seems like a good time to revisit the final days of Luffy and the Straw Hats' adventure and take a good look at Enel's power.

Enel's Devil Fruit is so strong that he is almost overpowered. Considering his opponent is anyone other than Luffy, a fight with Enel would take a lot of sweat to win.

Enel ate the Goro Goro no Mi , a Logia-type Devil Fruit , which gives him the powers of lightning . Like all Logia users, his body is completely made of lightning, and he can transform a part of himself into lightning any time he wants.

The Devil Fruit also gives him all the properties of lightning, including speed and potency and the ability to control and manipulate the element.

Enel channels lightning in his body through the drums on his back. This helps him produce various lightning-based attacks, including shooting lightning out of his arms. He can also travel at the speed of lightning , which is around 270,000 mph , and travel through conductive materials.

Enel can also use the other fundamental properties of lightning. For example, he can heat conductive metals like gold with electricity, then turn them into electromagnetic and manipulate their shape into anything he wants.

Enel's, as of yet revealed, strongest move is his Amaru or lightning god mode, in which state he can expel a maximum of 200,000,000 volts.

He is also smart enough to use his lightning for medical purposes. When needed, Enel can use his lightning to channel electricity into making his stopped heart beat again.

Enel also uses his Devil Fruit powers to boost his “mantra” by reading electric signals in the air.

Aside from that, Enel is one of the first characters in One Piece to hint at the powers of Haki. Along with Shanks, we have a very brief overview of Haoshoku Haki; Enel and his priests are the first to exhibit Kenbunshoku Haki.

Even if they don't know what this power is really called, they still make pretty good use of it. Enel and his disciples call this power “mantra”.

Considering Enel never received proper training on Haki like Luffy and others did, he was exceptionally skilled at using it at an average level.

After witnessing the advanced Kenbunshoku of characters like Katakuri, Enel's mantra may not seem like much, but we must remember that it was introduced very early in the series when the concept of Haki was barely developed.

Thanks to the mantra, Enel can read his opponent's every move and act accordingly. By channeling the powers of Goro Goro no Mi, he senses electromagnetic waves in the air that allow him to hear everything happening around him from a great distance. This power covers an entire island like Skypiea, which is no small feat.

Armed

Enel always carries with him a golden staff whose shape he can manipulate to form any weapon. The staff name is Nonosama Bo. He uses it to crush anyone he doesn't seem worthy enough to be attacked by his lightning.

How strong is Enel in One Piece?

Enel is at Admiral level. Many fans felt that he might be even slightly stronger than Yonko's Admirals and First Commanders (Right Hands).

If we compare him to Kizaru (who has fruits of similar power), Enel has the upper hand in terms of offensive attacks and Kenbunshoku Haki, but Kizaru can surpass him thanks to his Busoshoku Haki speed and experience.

However, in a one-on-one fight, no one will be victorious. This clearly shows that Enel is on the same level as Kizaru. Additionally, only a few characters in the One Piece series can face its 200 million volt light attack.

During the Q&A session for Volume 43, Oda sensei answered a fan's question about Enel's power level. He estimated that if Enel was known on the Blue Sea, his bounty would easily reach 500 million Berry, or more.

This was the pre-jump discussion. This means that based on the current saga, Enel's bounty could have reached over a billion Berry.

Additionally, he is currently on the Moon, learning the origin of Devil Fruits and ancient Lunar robots. So with this knowledge, when he returns from the Moon, it will be almost impossible to stop him.

How strong is Enel compared to Luffy ?

Enel's defeat by Luffy at the end of the Skypiea Arc was due to the plot's vast rubbery armor. But this will no longer be the case. While this is entirely possible, Enel has become stronger than his former god of Skypiea.

Since he conquers the Moon, gains knowledge, and all that, he's simply no match for Luffy at the latter's current power levels. Whether it's the powers of Haki or the Devil Fruit, Luffy dominates the native of Skypiea in all aspects of his strength.

Enel's superspeed won't be enough for Luffy since the pirate can use advanced Kenbunshoku and see the future.

Enel's lightning will also be completely useless against Luffy as they were on Skypiea, even if we now know that Luffy never had Gomu Gomu no Mi. Luffy's true power, his , gives him a such a range of exceptional abilities that lightning cannot affect him.

Enel may have been an incredible and strong character who left too soon without ever showing his potential, but at the moment it's hard to imagine him as a serious opponent for Luffy.

But then again, with One Piece, you never know what will happen. Like Lucci's visit to Egghead Island, Enel might also get another chance to face his old enemy again.
