Naruto Uzumaki : Powers and Abilities
Naruto Uzumaki is the jinchuriki of Kurama who fulfilled his dream of being the Hokage at the end of his series. Currently, he is the Seventh Hokage of Konohagakure and the father of , the protagonist of the following series, . With , Naruto became the strongest shinobi in the world.
Naruto's powers continued to become more and more controlled and focused over time. It was during his fight against him that he received his strongest and last power-up. In his Baryon Mode, Naruto becomes not only the strongest version of himself, but also the strongest among all other characters in the series to date.
The legendary Baryon mode has the following abilities:
Abilities
- In Baryon Mode, Naruto and Kurama's chakra merge at the atomic level , resulting in unprecedented strength, speed, and reflexes.
- Since all chakras are connected, Naruto can influence his opponent's chakra by touch and can even suck out their lifespan.
- In Baryon Mode, Naruto is so fast that Sasuke cannot track him properly with his Rinnesharingan , and Isshiki cannot predict his movements.
- Naruto has nine tails made of chakra in Baryon mode which he can use for various purposes, both defensive and offensive.
- While Baryon Mode's powers are immense, it has its fair share of drawbacks. Naruto must remain ultra focused in this form and cannot make any unnecessary movements.
- The mode is also short-lived as it heavily affects Naruto and Kurama and takes away their lifespan. This disadvantage results in Kurama's disappearance at the end of their fight against Isshiki.
Ichigo Kurosaki : Powers and Abilities
Ichigo Kurosaki is the Substitute Shinigami, responsible for monitoring Karakura Town before losing his powers. Since Ichigo gained his powers from Rukia at the beginning of the story, he has continued to grow into one of the strongest characters in the series. But it isn't until the final arc of the series that Ichigo's full powers are revealed.
Being the son of a Shinigami and a Quincy, Ichigo inherited powers from both sides of his parentage. Although for most of the series his Shinigami powers are dominant and focused, his Quincy abilities eventually come to him. Towards the end of the series, during his climactic battle against the , Ichigo reaches his strengths.
Before we start comparing him to Naruto, let's take a look at all the powers Ichigo possesses:
Abilities
- As a Shinigami, Ichigo possesses superhuman speed, agility, durability, and strength. In fact, with his Shunpo, he is faster than some even.
- Like all Shinigami, Ichigo's true powers are based on his Zanpakuto . Ichigo's true Zangetsu allows him to use two very powerful attacks: Getsuga Tensho and its superior form, Getsuga Jujisho .
- His Tensa Zangetsu was already formidable in its own right, but in its true form, it was formidable enough that the powerful Yhwach would destroy it in the future to avoid facing him.
- Ichigo's Hollow form has always been very powerful, amplifying his powers to another level. But after merging his Hollow and Zanpakuto abilities, he uses the combined strength of Gran Ray Cero and Getsuga Tensho, so powerful that it is capable of harming Yhwach.
- Thanks to his heritage as part Quincy , Ichigo can use Blut Vene, a very defensive technique that is quite effective in taking one of Yhwach's blows and turning it into a simple slash on Ichigo.
Naruto vs. Ichigo: who will win and why?
The truth is that if there is a fight between Naruto and Ichigo, it will be tied for a while before durability kicks in. Naruto's Baryon mode on paper seems too powerful to handle, but it It's also a double-edged sword. Naruto can only stay in this state for a short time, while Ichigo can easily outgrow it.
There is also the point where Baryon mode decreases one's opponent's lifespan. But given that Ichigo is in his prime and, what's more, is a Shinigami whose soul has a much longer lifespan that cannot be fatally affected by Baryon Mode. Ichigo can also protect himself from Naruto's powerful attacks with Blut Vene.
But ultimately, it would be Baryon Mode's own weakness that would cause Ichigo to win the Naruto vs. Ichigo match. Now that that's out of the way, let's dig into the individual aspects of Naruto vs Ichigo before the Shinigami take the cake.
1) Strength-based
Both Naruto and Ichigo possess superhuman physical strength, and both have their moment to show it. In that regard, these two are pretty much evenly matched.
2) Based on speed
The duo is not only bonded for strength but also for strength. Naruto and Ichigo show off their astonishing speed on several occasions. Judging from several incidents in their own individual stories, it's safe to say that both Naruto and Ichigo are faster than the speed of light. So here's another tie for Naruto vs. Ichigo.
3) Based on reflexes
As a shinobi, Naruto was trained to have sharp reflexes since childhood. This, combined with his super speed, gives the ninja sharp reflexes and acute agility. Dodging lightning-fast moves and counterattacking in an instant are part of his skills, and he has shown this many times in the series.
Like Naruto, Ichigo also has fast reflexes. Even during his first trip to Soul Society, he could dodge and react to attacks from some very powerful captains of the Gotei 13. This acute reflex is further enhanced in his Hollowfied form.
Based on how quickly they both react to each other's moves, we would have to say that they would be evenly matched if they were to fight.
4) Based on capabilities
When the focus is on their individual abilities, things become trickier. Baryon Mode and Ichigo's final form are at their peak, which comes with many new powers.
Ichigo's powers come from several sources, namely his Shinigami nature, his Quincy heritage, and the Hollow within him. For this reason, his powers are more extensive.
His main offensive powers come from his Zanpakuto, i.e. his Shikai, while the Hollow form enhances these powers. Blut Vene, an ability of the Quincy, grants it its defensive powers.
But that being said, Ichigo's full powers are never revealed, thanks to Yhwach destroying his true Bankai in the future.
Naruto, on the other hand, is absolutely divine in Baryon mode. He is so powerful in Baryon Mode that he doesn't even need to use any special jutsu to demolish his enemy.
His strength, speed, and offensive powers are so high that it only takes him a few seconds to crush an opponent as strong as Isshiki. But Baryon Mode's scariest ability is the ability to remove an opponent's lifespan with every hit.
Although in terms of abilities, Naruto has the upper hand over Ichigo, we can't really place him as the winner here, and that is due to the deadly drawback of Baryon mode.
This form of Naruto might give him the power to suck the life force out of someone, but it also takes away a lot from him. Not only does Naruto require extreme focus and control during Baryon Mode, but it also takes away his own lifespan.
So while Ichigo's full powers remain a mystery, he and Naruto are tied again this round simply because of Baryon Mode's major drawback.
5) Based on sustainability
In a Naruto vs. Ichigo fight, durability would be a game changer. The biggest downside to Naruto's Baryon Mode is how little time he can afford to stay in this form and how fatally it affects him when using it.
Ichigo, on the other hand, has the major advantage of being a Shinigami with a longer lifespan than a human. He also has no problem using his Zanpakuto or Hollow form.
During their fight, Ichigo would just have to hold on until Naruto could no longer maintain Baryon Mode. So, after all these ties, Ichigo finally wins this round of Naruto vs. Ichigo.
Conclusion
In battle, victory depends on many aspects of a person's powers. While brutal offensive powers might seem like the most important thing, that's not true, and nowhere is this seen better than in a Naruto vs. Ichigo fight.
Despite Baryon Mode's extraordinary offensive powers, Naruto loses to the Shinigami due to the lack of durability he has in this form.
This doesn't mean he would lose to someone with more stamina and durability. This simply means that Ichigo has the power to remain on par with him while outlasting him in combat.
