Yuta Okkotsu: powers and abilities
Introduced in Jujutsu Kaisen as a second-year student of Tokyo Jujutsu High, Yuta Okkotsu is also the protagonist of the prequel, Jujutsu Kaisen 0. Having accidentally cursed his childhood friend and love interest, Yuta has since lived in fear with the avenger of Rika. the spirit that hovers over him. Thanks to his time at Tokyo Jujutsu High, he broke Rika's curse and went to Africa to train with Miguel.
Cursed immeasurable energy capacity
Yuta is one of the four special grade jujutsu wizards and a descendant of Michizane Sugawara, Japan's most powerful vengeful spirit, making him a distant relative of . Thanks to his heritage, Yuta possesses an immeasurable amount of cursed energy, making it impossible to exhaust it. Currently, he is the only jujutsu sorcerer confirmed to possess immeasurable cursed energy.
- Black Flash: When facing difficult adversaries, a jujutsu sorcerer or cursed spirit can go into a zone of extreme concentration where they can create a spatial distortion upon hitting their cursed energy to their opponent within 0.000001 seconds of landing the physical blow, causing the cursed energy to flash black. Yuta used Black Flash against during their fight.
Rika
What makes Yuta so dangerous is the special quality cursed spirit of his deceased friend Rika attached to him. At first, Rika was a vengeful cursed spirit attached to Yuta after the boy unknowingly cursed her at the time of his death. After his fight with Geto, Yuta broke the curse and Rika's spirit disappeared.
It reappeared later, this time more maneuverable but just as powerful. Rika's power is such that Geto nicknamed her the Queen of Curses. Once the curse is broken, Yuta can summon Rika at will and without any burst of intense emotions. Although he primarily manifests Rika personally, he can also fully summon her using his ring.
While Rika is attached to Yuta and usually attacks on his orders, she can act independently and at certain distances.
Cursed Technique: Copy
Yuta's cursed technique, although seemingly simple, is very powerful and useful in battles. When connected to Rika with the ring, he can use his cursed technique, Copy, to replicate the cursed techniques of others. The condition for him to be able to do this is still unknown, but he has demonstrated his power on several occasions.
- Cursed Speech: Cursed Speech is a Cursed Technique passed down in the Inumaki family and possessed by Toge Inumaki . During his fight against Geto, Yuta replicated his technique by having Rika manifest a megaphone and infusing it with her cursed energy to display the Snake Eyes and Fangs symbol and used the Cursed Speech for the first time . After returning from Africa, Yuta can use the Cursed Speech directly with his mouth using Copy.
- Shikigami: By copying Dhruv Lakdawalla 's Cursed Technique, Yuta can summon a group of Shikigami. Shikigami have bat wings and a face similar to Rika's. They fly in groups around the opponent and create a sphere around them before manifesting a domain that slices through everything within.
- Sky Manipulation: Originally, Sky Manipulation is Takako Uro 's Cursed Technique, which gives her the ability to use and manipulate the sky or space as a tangible surface. Yuta replicates this technique after Rika eats one of Uro's arms.
- Thin Ice Breaker: This is the application of Sky Manipulation in which the user attacks the surface of the sky rather than the opponent's physical body. The impact created from the crack in space is powerful enough to seriously injure the opponent.
Reverse Cursed Technique
Yuta is one of the very few jujutsu wizards capable of using the reverse curse technique to heal himself and replenish his depleted cursed energy. However, he is special in the sense that unlike most jujutsu wizards who can use the reverse curse technique, Yuta can heal others as well.
Domain extension
While Yuta was in Africa, he mastered his at some point. The name and nature of his domain are still unknown because before he can fully open his domain against Takako Uro in a three-way battle, they are arrested. However, given Yuta's power in general and his confidence in opening his domain, we can safely assume that he has a very strong and well-built domain expansion.
Kenjaku: powers and abilities
Kenjaku is a former curse user and a major antagonist in Jujutsu Kaisen. He currently possesses the body of the late Special Grade Curse user, Suguru Geto. Using Geto's body, Kenjaku combines with a group of special quality curses to imprison Gojo and cast the . Currently, he is allied with , thanks to a binding vow.
Innate Cursed Technique
Kenjaku's innate Cursed Technique still doesn't have a name, but it proves to be an advantageous ability. His cursed technique allows him to transplant his brain into a deceased body and control it as his own. By possessing a body, he has access to the individual's memories and cursed techniques.
After possessing a body, there is a visible suture scar on the forehead, hinting at a brain transplant.
Kenjaku has lived for hundreds of years using his cursed technique. In the story, he has four confirmed ships whose bodies he possessed. One of these vessels is a jujutsu sorcerer from 400 years ago with whom he uses the body to make a binding wish. The other three are Noritoshi Kamo, Kaori Itadori and Suguru Geto respectively.
Cursed Spirit Manipulation
Cursed Spirit Manipulation is Geto's cursed technique that Kenjaku can use after possessing his body. With this technique, the user can absorb any curse they exorcise and add them to their armory to use later as they wish. This is one of the most dangerous and useful cursed techniques that made Geto a special grade jujutsu wizard.
Geto had a large number of curses under his control, including some special grades like Smallpox Deity which can use their own domain extensions. Kenjaku now has control over all of them.
- Maximum: Uzumaki: This is the ultimate Cursed Spirit Manipulation technique where each curse under the user's control is combined to create a massive catastrophe. It appears in the form of a whirlwind and is thus named Uzumaki. When used against a cursed spirit of Semi Grade 1 or higher, it also allows the user to extract the opponent's Cursed Technique. This is shown when Kenjaku uses it against to absorb his Far Transfiguration .
Antigravity system
The antigravity system belonged to Kaori Itadori, Jin Itadori's wife. After her death, Kenjaku took over her body and, after mating with her husband, gave birth to . Possessing his body also gave him control of the antigravity system which allows the user to override gravity. Kenjaku uses a cursed reversal technique to increase the gravity around him.
Reverse Cursed Technique
As an ancient and powerful curse user, Kenjaku can use the reverse curse technique to heal the body he currently inhabits as well as replenish his used curse energy.
Domain Expansion: Profusion of Wombs
Kenjaku's domain expansion, Womb Profusion, is one of only two open barrier domains featured in the story. His domain occupies an unknown amount of space and there is a giant totem made of cursed spirits in the center. The curse faces on the totem can launch powerful blasts from their mouths, but the true extent of its power is unknown.
Yuta versus Kenjaku: who is stronger?
Yuta and Kenjaku are two of the strongest characters in the series. While Yuta himself is a special level jujutsu wizard, Kenjaku possesses the body and cursed technique of one. In fact, Yuta clashed with Geto and defeated the man during his first year. Since then, he has also become much stronger.
However, we must also keep in mind that Kenjaku's powers are not limited to Geto's. He has the antigravity system and his own domain extension and possibly many other unrevealed powers. Kenjaku is also a shrewd strategist who is not afraid to use dirty tricks.
But if they have to face each other with full powers, we can assume that Yuta will win. Not only is his cursed energy immeasurable and his cursed technique very diverse, but he also has Rika in his corner. Once Yuta fully manifests Rika and both gangs against Kenjaku, it's hard to imagine him fighting back with the same power.
As for the Domain battle, the outcome remains a little murky because Yuta's Domain has not yet been revealed. Keeping Yuta's power in mind, the Domain will surely be one of the most powerful in the series with skillful construction. Its chances of being barrier-free are low since only two characters have barrier-free domains and both are wizards from the past.
If Yuta's domain has a barrier and conflicts with Kenjaku's barrier-free domain, the profusion of Kenjaku's womb can destroy Yuta's domain. If Yuta's domain is also barrier-free, he will have a better advantage. Besides the domain battle, Yuta will be the winner of the Yuta vs. Kenjaku fight.
Conclusion
We have come to the conclusion of our Yuta vs. Kenjaku discussion. In the manga, Yuta finished off Kenjaku with a single blow and as seen, if they fought any longer, Yuta would still defeat Kenjaku. When it comes to power, Yuta is the clear winner.
However, as we've come to expect from Jujutsu Kaisen, sometimes it's not all about power. There might be more at play and even if Yuta has decapitated Kenjaku for now, we can't be sure if this is the end for the Parasite Curse user. But as long as Yuta is alive, it will surely not be easy for Kenjaku to realize his plans.
