The latest chapter of One Piece showed the fight against the Pirates. The outcome of the battle was so shocking that fans were biting their nails for an entire week, wondering what happened to Garp. But the wait is now over and the answers are finally here with One Piece Chapter 1088 spoilers and release date.

In the last chapter, Garp was stabbed by Shiryu while trying to protect him. On top of that, he fought Kuzan head-on and was dropped to the ground with Kuzan's Ice Glove attack. What will happen to Garp now? Let's find out.

One Piece Chapter 1088 Spoilers

• The title of chapter 1088 will be “The Last Lesson” , alluding to Garp's lessons to young sailors, including Koby.

• The chapter begins with a flashback where Garp is teaching new Marine recruits. He teaches them that young people are the future, and that Marines must always protect them above all else.

• Back on Hachinosu, Pizarro prepares to use his giant hand to crush Garp's warship where the other SWORD members and the rescued prisoners are located. Garp puts Koby, Grus, and Helmeppo in charge of stopping the Hand and protecting the people while he creates an opening for them.

• He instructs Koby to destroy the hand, Grus to protect the ship, and Helmeppo to cover the other two. The three carry out their tasks even though the pirates make fun of them.

• Grus asks Koby if he has a special technique, because Garp entrusted him with destroying Pizarro's giant hand. Koby says he doesn't have a gun, but he'll try something to destroy it. As the pirates attack them, Helmeppo blocks them with his sword and is caught in an explosion.

• Garp gets up, faces Kuzan and moves incredibly fast. He punches the former admiral before jumping on the giant skull and crushing it with his Galaxy Divide .

• The attack splits the skull in two, finally bringing Pizarro's horribly injured body out. Koby jumps into the air to stop Pizarro's giant hand which he is about to unleash on Garp's ship in retaliation.

• Another flashback begins during Koby and Helmeppo's time as young sailors. When Garp notices Koby's hand injuries, Helmeppo tells him that since Koby is physically weaker than most people, he compensates by training 100 to 200 times harder. He trained at night by hitting Garp's battle bag.

• Now, Koby crushes Pizarro's big hand with his Honesty Impact , the force being so great that it breaks Pizarro's real hand. Garp tearfully laughs at the scene while Grus uses Clay Web to prevent the stone debris from falling onto Garp's ship.

• Koby, Grus and Helmeppo board the ship, but Garp stays on Hachinosu. He tells the group across the Den Den Mushi to continue and that he will follow them later. Koby cries as Garp tells them that they are all the "future of the Navy".

• On the next page, Garp is seen lying on the ground after being stabbed by an ice blade, surrounded by the Blackbeard Pirates. He laughs even as it starts to freeze everywhere. Kuzan looks, but his eyes are not visible.

• The newspaper announces the next day that Koby has returned, Garp's status is unknown, and Luffy has taken over Egghead Island as his stronghold.

• At the end of the chapter, it is seen that the Navy ships have finally reached Egghead Island , hinting that the next chapter will focus on the events of Egghead Island where Sanji and Zoro are currently located, as well as Nami , Franky and a few others.

What happened to Garp?

The signs towards the end of the chapter indicate that something bad must have happened to Garp. Judging by the tone and situation, one could assume he is dead. But since One Piece is known for not killing off its characters, we can guess that even though Garp is no longer available in battle and his current status is unknown, he is alive and well.

The question then becomes whether he is being held prisoner by the Blackbeard Pirates on Hachinosu. The answer is very likely since Garp, as a hero of the Marines, is an excellent bargaining chip for Blackbeard who wants to make Hachinosu his official stronghold.

But there is also very little chance that Garp will die in this arc since Ace also died to ensure the development of Luffy's character. However, we believe he is still alive on Hachinosu and could have spoken to Kuzan who clearly didn't want to kill Garp. Maybe the two unite against Blackbeard. But until the author releases more information, we'll just have to accept Garp's unknown status.
