Jujutsu Kaisen began with a seemingly ordinary teenager, Yuji Itadori , who eats the finger of the King of Curses, Ryomen Sukuna , and subsequently becomes his vessel. Sukuna's nefarious plans have continued to intensify since then, and now he has finally managed to get rid of his most powerful obstacle. But this very incident is a clear premonition that Yuji Itadori will be the last hope against Sukuna .

Yuji vs. Sukuna
Since the Elimination Game Arc where Sukuna cleverly took control of Megumi Fushiguro 's body, things have gotten worse for jujutsu sorcerers. After a prolonged fight against Satoru Gojo , the strongest jujutsu sorcerer of modern times, Sukuna finally succeeded in killing Gojo.
This was an irredeemable blow to jujutsu sorcerers because no one was as strong as Gojo, and if Gojo couldn't defeat Sukuna, there was little chance anyone else could. After Gojo, the next person to face Sukuna was Hajime Kashimo . But he was killed relatively easily and Sukuna finally got his real body back.
Now, with two major players gone, the only option left for jujutsu wizards is to form teams. So, Yuji and Hiroomi Higuruma team up to take on Sukuna. The story now focuses on Kenjaku as Yuji finally enters the fight against Sukuna, so we'll have to wait a little longer to find out what happens next between them.
How is Yuji the last hope against Sukuna?
Although this fight is clearly not the climatic fight of Jujutsu Kaisen, we can reasonably assume that the final fight will be Yuji vs. Sukuna. There are many reasons that support this hypothesis, and the first and most obvious is that Yuji is the protagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen and Sukuna is the main antagonist.
Another obvious reason is that there aren't many jujutsu wizards strong enough to counter Sukuna. In fact, in his true form, none of them can, not even Yuta Okkotsu , Maki Zenin , or Kinji Hakari . Although Gojo once said that Yuta and Hakari had the potential to be as strong as him, it would still be impossible for them to win against Sukuna, as Gojo clearly couldn't defeat him even before he regained his original body.
Story-wise, Megumi can play a big role in fighting Sukuna, as he is the deuterogonist of the story and is predicted to be as strong or even stronger than Gojo. But it is still unclear how Megumi will be freed from Sukuna's clutches.
Yuji is the ideal candidate to face Sukuna as there has been continued hostility between them from the beginning of the story. Sukuna took great pleasure in tormenting Yuji throughout the story and he must get revenge for it.
As for Yuji's powers, although he is currently significantly weaker than Sukuna, he has huge potential to become the strongest character in the story. His powers as a descendant of Kenjaku are still unexplored, but we can already guess how much of a power boost he will receive before the final fight of the series.
